Hey all

im trying to get some ideas on building a box for the 15" SX, im looking for spl here and i own an optra 5 hatchback...got maybe 6 - 8 cubes max if box is cut perfectly.

I'm lookin into trying to build a box with areoports 4 my xxx, i read they certainly increase SPL though (not sure how much), and far as i know, the box will also be smaller since you dont have to wast space for a slotted port.

Is the XXX more of an SPL sub as oposed to the SX because ive herd that the SX hits higher in dB when tuned properly!!!

I think the XXX is more of a SQL sub compared to the SX it just takes more wattage doesnt it? MT is the total SPL sub for resonant engineering. You want a big port area and a high tuning 40-55 somewhere in that area. Aeroports are good but you need like 4 4" aeroports to get the area needed for an SPL box. Im using 2 4" aeroports in my 4cuft box for my memphis subs.

yea the MT is a monster, but i need a street pounder as well, i was thinking building a box with changable port sizes to eliminate som dB so when i drive i dont need to cruise with a poudning 149 + dB in my ears. so SX looks like the best option....has anyone built a box for the 15?

you know Moe Lester could design a nice box for that sub he only charges a few bucks for the layout. Smoething to consider if your not sure. Hes like an SPL judge for one of the competition organizations so he knows his shit.

i got a buddy that does custom instals , hes the one that leaned me towards RE, im just trying to get some input into the size im gonna need to run this puppy... he said hell build me the box but its bassically trial and error at first because my trunk isnt the best to work with.

hes running one 12" SX right now hitten nice numbers and he wants to get me hitten hudge #'s in street B, Team All-Tech hitten up comps in southern Ontario... so far ive placed twice with my audiobahns but there power handeling is shit there gonna BLOW-UP-BAHN very soon...but hell got em both for dirt cheap.
