question about carpet???

i just finished putting carpet on my first box. when trimming the carpet around the subs how far back should i trim?

should the sub sit on the mdf or the carpet??

or does it really matter?? just dont want any leaks

I drill through the carpet to mount the subs... Doesn't matter, either way would work just fine.

yeah just cut an "x" in the speaker holes and set your sub in.....

If carpet is your main defence against air leaks, than you need to turn you focus back to the build and not looks.

i dont know what youre talking about. the box isnt held together with carpet lol. this is my first box and my first carpet job. i just had a simple question.

to me it just seems like mounting it to solid mdf would be best but i guess it doesent matter.

When I carpeted my box I just cut off pieces each section at a time and paid close attention to the edge's to make sure you couldnt see the wood below. It looks ok I guess.

it looks good to me i cant see any seams except for one side. for my first attemp ill live with it.

If its in your trunk no one would really even noticed unless they are some serious searching. Plus if the carpet matches your trunk it will blend right in.
