15" L7 at 1,500 watts

Boxes don't make power, amplifiers do. A smaller box will help the sub with its mechanical power handling (ignoring port tuning) and will generally be less efficient. A bigger box tends to be more efficient, but mechanical power handling is decreased. 5 cubes is too big (unless you're careful) for a L7 15", imo.

cool that's what i'm looking for i'll probably lower it to around 3-4 cubes, thanks

how should they actually handle the 1500+?? i'll keep the gain in the lower quarter to keep it good and in the power range

what'd you thiiiink?

Just tune it correctly and you should be alright, amps have gain knobs for a reason //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

ha for sure, what would you say for tuning??? i originally wanted somewhere around 38hz. but what would you reconmend???

haha i know it's there for a reason ;] but that's another reason for the thread... how much could the 15" L7 actually take and live to tell about? haha

36-38hz for the sub is fine, not the best sounding subs in the world.

I've had buds give the L7's 1200 watts daily in 3ish ft^3 ported boxes daily and they did fine. 1500, I have no idea on how it'll do.

I did 2 15" L7's on 1000rms each in 8 cubes and it got decently loud. BUT sounded like poop, no response at all to me, my kicker cvr 12's sounded alot better

Then I switched to the audioque sdc 15's that Im currently running and there SPLITTING 1000rms and thy get louder than the l7's did, but there also in a bigger box, BUT they sound amazing, best subs Ive heard to date on music.

Check out the audioque linup for sure, the sdc lineup is dirt cheap

ya my buddy has cvr's and those get pretty **** loud for sure, but i'm getting the hookup on the l7 and amp... and they've been purchased haha

and i know it's gonna sound like poop, slooooow sub ha but just low low bass sub

so i'm hearing around a 3-4ft^3 box will be good at 38hz with 1500 watts???

don't make the box to tall. bottom of sub shouldn't have more than 6" of clearance.

put sub close to the port opening, make sure the back wave doesn't fire directly into the end of the port.

that is my final answer.

I have given a pair of l7's about 4000 total(not peak/legacy power, rockford power) for a very very short amount of time and well they were unbelievably loud but i would not reccomend it. They wont last, 1500 daily is fine but be careful on the gains!
