C0CK,its whats for dinner
Hey guys, I am getting my new sub soon, which is a single 15" Beyond Audio Inhuman:yumyum: , and I am making her a pretty home... The box is just over 5 cubes and tuned to 34Hz. I will be using 4" PVC piping for the ports (which is some monster PVC, didnt realize how large it actually is.) I was wondering how I attatch the PVC to the box...?

Well here are some begining pics.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Any comments are welcome, as long as they are positive //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I would like to PVC question answered fairly soon though, I plan to get this going tomorrow afternoon.

bro get on aim

otherwise, just dril some 1/2 inch holes to predrill, about half way through, then 1/8inch holes to get it the rest of the way, then just drill through it at an angle through the pipe, into the wood.

another way to do it, is hotglue it, from the front, then flip it over, and resin the back in with fiberglass resin, make sure you 10grit sand the pipe first though, so it'll grip good.

This is gonna be loud! Imma try to find a box tomrrow to ship it in //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

if im using 4" ID PVC pipe. i cut a 4.5" hole with my jasper jig, i put a SLIGHT taper on the hole with my round over bit, wrap electrical tap on the port end and POUND it into the wood. this makes for a very very tight seal. its also very strong. i cant wiggle the port out. it takes some serious pounding out

construction adhesive, ca glue, liquid nails, all viable solutions. best way to do it would be to get some ABS plastic, cut a ring with the ID of the OD of the tubing, like a big rectangle with 4 holes in it, trace the holes onto the box and cut them out too, then CA glue the PVC to the ABS plate you made put gobs of liquid nails on the backside of the plate round the PVC and slide it in... then maybe some more on the inside of the box too for shits and giggles,. then just put a few nice screws thru the ABS plate into the box. if you put vynl on the box, then put the port\plate in, it would look pretty sweet (paint the inside of the PVC or get black PVC.

these work too;

just reverse them and the OD of that little flange is what you cut out of the box, the rest of the PVC slides inside it.

Okay, today I got the holes for the ports and sub cut out. I realize I am not the most skilled with a jigsaw, or any saw for that matter, but I think it turned out decent. This is more of an experiement box anyway, to see how I like working with the PVC, so if it sucks then oh well.

Yes, I know you see my toes.

And a test fit....

All screwed in... (I used Mike's advice, seemed the easiest.)

I am going out to do a bit more work, hopefully this will be finished tomorrow if I find the time... Otherwise I will have to wrap it up this weekend, I am still comtemplating carpeting it.

And I ordered my amp today as well, Planet Audio 2250D. This time I will be not so generous on the gains..... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

looking good bro.

i'll help you carpet it, if you wanna bring it to tally.

for 20 bucks (materials cost pretty much)

it looks good thoguh, should be loud, what tuning are you going for, i dont know if i missed it in the thread?

looks really good, alot better than that last box i saw you were building.

: )

and perfect with those pipes, like i said though, hit it up from the inside with resin if you wanna fork up 12 bucks for a quart of resin, and that way you can resin the insides of the box a little bit at least.

i bashed my head on that very sub so i can vouch for how strong it is and how much pain it can cause
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif ....

Well this is as far as I got before I had to leave for work, hopefully if it isnt raining tomorrow I can finish her up and maybe do a test run with my buddy's 15" Mmats Procast.

And dont pay attention to that extra ~3 inches on the one board, the Home Depot idiot cut it to the wrong size, so I'll just knock it off with the jigsaw when its all together...
