Not if you do it quietly. Phone on silent, it only disrupts the one person texting, and they dont care obviously.

I think she deserved it. The article says that this isn't the first time she has been in trouble. Plus she lied about even having the phone. She's a trouble maker and she needs to be taught a lesson. ..Piihb (the cell phone)

school are getting rediculous, who pays the people that work at the schools? the kids parents, when a fist is thrown or something goes wrong the police are called no matter how minor the offense, and whats the schools goal to give the kids the best education possible and help them to succed in there life and careers, well thats going to be hard with a misdimenor on there record. kids make mistakes and bad chioces and now the schools have it so the kids have no strikes, its just over. and our schools don't listen to parents the school thinks they have athority over parents. this is bull shit. my Gf whose still in HS arives late occasionally becouse her little mother sometimes has trouble getting her younger siblings ready on time. who gets punished for being 5 minutes lte my g/f and when her mom went to talk to the princapal, and tried to explain that its not her daughters fault he just blew her off.

im no longer in high school and wasn't a trouble maker, sure i got in trouble once a year or so but the school are getting out of hand, i beleive a college style, where the proffesors will listen to you and talk to you like a person is the best way to do things.

In the district I work in the kids get too many strikes so its not all schools that kick you out after one offense. Obviously, this girl had many warnings from things prior and was aslo asked repeatedly to stop texting.

Your girlfriend needs to slap her mother for not being able to get the kids ready in time and causing your girlfriend to get in trouble. If she knows its negatively effecting your gf then she should step up and do something about it.

College style won't work for kids this age. They are not mature enough to be as responsible as college students. Hell, a lot of college students are mature enough to handle it.

I do think teachers and administrators should show a little more respect to the students instead of making them feel like they're 8 years old but most students would take advantage of a teacher like that. Sometimes you have to be a hard *** to get respect from them

i sat next to this stupid girl in an econ class who would text constantly on her sidekick. I was okay with just her texting, since she's just wasting her own education, but then after she texts, she has the nerves to ask the chick next to her, "what did the teacher say?"

College style won't work for kids this age. They are not mature enough to be as responsible as college students. Hell, a lot of college students aren't mature enough to handle it.

Nope. Or when they get a real job. Do you think my employer would be happy with that excuse if I were late every day to work? If that guy really believes that high school should prepare you for real life, then shouldn't the punishment be about the same.

So the teacher shouldn't test the students for understanding? In a college class were the teacher doesn't care who passess or who fails, text all you want...hell, don't even show up.

In high school, where they hand-hold all the students, some jackass kid texting slows down the class. If she wants to text during class time, fine...do it outside and not slow down the class.

Schools are turning gay as hell. Calling the po pos for testing? In my old high school, you wouldn't have been asked to stop. You would have known to not even let the teacher see a phone let alone texting.
