13 w7 or fi BL's 15 need ur advise

I think that sound comes from the woofer being in constant motion. my 10w7 sounded like that too when it was powered by 500/1. It seems the 1000/1 has helped to control the woofer and made it much more accurate. the 'whooshing' sound stopped.
Uhm.... okay. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

What you are describing is calld dampening factor. Both the amplifiers you compare have the exact same DF. And simply adding more power doesn't change that.

1000 watts is too much for a 10W7, you shouldn't be recommending it to other people. And especially not for 'cone control' reasons. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

ok I dont claim to be an expert. I just know the 1000/1 made a difference with my setup. And the 10w7 can handle the 1000/1 with no problem. I know a guy that has two 8w7's powered by two 1000/1's for about 8months now, and it sounds PURE. no problems at all.

wanted to add the only reason hes running the 8w7's is cause he's got an extended cab truck and thats all the room he had.

It sounds so pure tho. the kick drums feel like sluggin you in the chest, but really really clean sounding. I really been impressed with the w7's, costly tho.

I don't think he said anything about the price guys....
If you don't care about the $$ GO for the W7

Its the same with cars... performance per $ = WRX Sti or Evo-R unlimited cash= Lotus, Lambo, McClaren, Ferrari etc....

If you can afford the PU$$Y magnet (Borat voice) get yourself one!
pfft more like if you got the money go for a DD !!!

When are you guys going to realize that these subs are meant for different things?

The BL is made for a Daily Driver setup that is able to withstand SPL abuse.

The W7 is first and foremost an SQ woofer (although how well it does that job has been questioned).

The Si Mag, Fi Q, DD 3500, and JL W7 would be a better match up. If you're looking for a sub that can get loud without losing SQ, those are some good options to start out with.

1000 watts is way too much for an 8W7 daily. Burps, sure. Daily driven, nope. Just one quick look at JL's power chart clearly shows that 1000 watts is well out of those W7 size's power range. JL did not make up that power chart for no good reason. Run an 8W7, or even a 10, with a 1000 watts regularly and you will shorten its lifespan, at the very least.

Just because you have a 1000 watt amplifier hooked to your sub does not mean it is receiving 1000 watts. Chances are, if your sub is doing well, you have your gains turned down so as to not show the full 1000 watts to the driver. If this is the case, you are not running 1000 watts to your dub7, and again it is irresponsible to recommend it to other people. Just because you can afford to pay for watts you will never use does not mean everyone can or should.

Lastly, you will never convince me a W7 needs considerably more power than its even rated to handle before it starts performing well. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif MUCH more likely is when you upgraded amplifiers, your ears heard a difference they WANTED and EXPECTED to hear.

Again, more watts does not simply equal more cone control.

I know everyone says w7 are for sq but last db drag the guy that won street A around here had one 10w7 and hit a 150.8. I think it was in a bandpass box I wasn't there just read the results. Hes going against single 12" and two 10" subs too.

I had one 13w7 in a ported box and it was amazing. To me this out performed all the other subs that I tested, i was trying so hard to find a better sub,,,I couldnt, i kept falling back to the first sub that I had checked out, the w7. To me it has the best balance of sq and spl. You get what you pay for with JL. I gave the 13 to my friend and now I have 3 10 w7's, price is not a factor to me and I chose the W7. Theres alot of people that wish they had bought the w7 but didnt so they trick themselves into thinking that there sub is better. The most important thing is that u get the right box, Jl's HO box is sick, u can get your local car audio place to make you something similar to that for your 13's. I put my 10's in separate enclosures because you never know when the bass bug will bite and make you wanna add another... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
