Right now i have 2 12s. Gonna be getting 3300 rms amp soon. What would be louder, low, and sound awesome with only 4.0 4-5 cubes to work with? I will need the subs to wire down to 1 ohm.

Right now I have ab xfl they sound great and get hell loud but obv if im upgrading power i want louder subs. My box is tuned to around 33hz

I was thinking maybe 4 8s or 4 10s but the space on 10s will be limited and i have honestly only ever heard a 12" most

Size of the sub does not affect how low it can play. For the power, space, and price, I would recommend one good 15.

Although, I don't know of any good amps rated at 3300 RMS //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

I have a ab xfl 175.1 so is need a sub that can handle 2500 rms if i do 1 subwoofer.

I know 8 inch subs only need 1 cu ft each and i can do 4.0 so would that be louder than my 2 12s? I want to try a 15 but don't wanna waste money for nothing

The 12's will have more cone area. However, with the 15, you will get less rise and you can get a good one for the price of two cheaper 12's. There are advantages and disadvantages to both setups.

It's all up to how you want it to sound.

Increasing the cone area as a general rule will cause the speaker to play "lower". If you want louder, I would consider a different box spec. If I am not mistaken, having 4 10's will probably be louder but I doubt they will play lower. Keep in mind, a rule of thumb is adding another sub will likely only increase volume or "loudness" by 30-40%. You wouldn't double it. So volume (loudness) wise you might see a 50% increase going to 4 10" woofers from your current two 12's.

If you have your 12's in a simple ported box now, you might prefer if they were in a bandpass enclosure. Those are generally hella loud, but they don't go as deep.

Cone area does NOT affect how low subs can play. Two tens, one ten, and one 18 can all play just as "low" as eachother.

Stupid newbs. Stop spreading that myth around..

Don't you think that if cone area had nothing to do with frequency response that we would all have 6" subs in the back of our vehicles to save space? Small speakers are somewhat capable of hitting low notes but that is either in an insufficient amount or totally inaudible. Sure they might be able to pump out 30Hz at an almost in audible level. But It can't reproduce 30 Hz at 4 or 500 watts. So, your reply was not only silly but disposable. No need to call people noobs over your inexperience.

That is a bad misconception in the audio world. Check out DD's 6.5 and 8 inch subwoofers, sundown 6.5 and 8 inch subwoofers. Look into focal and tang band 5.25 subwoofers. As well as many other tang band subwoofers. I prefer small subwoofers for there ability to get loud, dig low and save space. I'm going from 12's in my truck to a single 8 or dual 6.5's to gain low end due to my lack of space
