12IDQD2 Enclosure

It will probably help to first have a little background on the setup I am working towards.

I have a US AMPS 600x And I am considering the Image Dynamics 12IDQD2

I am going to attempt to build my own enclosure and I am trying to determine exactly how big the box needs to be.

I found a Speaker Enclosure Cacluator and after playing with it for it a bit I'd need to build a 14.25" x 14.25" x 8.9" to get an enclosure volume of 0.701 ft^3

Or I could increase the depth to get the width and height slightly smaller to keep the same internal volume.

According to the ID website the sub's displacement is 0.07 ft^3 and I am not sure how this factors into the enclosure calculations.

To factor the sub's dislplacement does that mean I just make the box that 0.07 ft^3 bigger so the boxes volume would then be 0.708 ft^3?

Any help or links to references would be appreciated

according to the ID website it seems as tho your enclosure should be anywhere between .55 cubic feet and 1.00 cubic feet, so your .701 should be fine unless you want to lower the f3 of the system (let it hit lower notes) by building it a little bigger...

as for the subs displacement, you DO want to add that into your total box volume because after you install the sub, the enclosure has become that much smaller (in other words, if you built a box to be exactly .700 cubic feet, after the sub is installed there would only be .63 cubic feet of air that the sub can work with)...therefore, building a bigger box, one that is around .707 cubic feet, would allow the sub to still have its .7 cubic feet of air to work with, which is what you want

still, the sub would do fine with .63 cubic feet, it just depends on how big you want the box and how deep you want your bass

I have an IDQ10 in about .6 cuft. I am not a master but have built a few small (less than 1cuft) enclosures for some odd locations. It always seems that you lose a little volume after you cut and fit - I would go for within the recommended range but on the larger end of the range.

i would go with an infinite baffle enclosure.

from my expierence they sound the best that way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
