12" Speaker Grill/Protection Suggestions

Hey guys. I am in the process of waiting for a lot of newly ordered equipment to come in. Because I will be running a single ID12v3 in 1ft^3, the enclosure is rather small with the intention of being able to use the majority of my trunk space. With that being the case, I would like to fully protect the sub from luggage, groceries, dog crates, etc.

I have seen some of the bar grills which I like but most have rather negative reviews. I need something that is 12.4" in diameter and at least 0.5" deep. Anyone have any suggestions to protect the speaker whether its a grill or some other method? Thanks.

make it your self. get some alum. tub, bend, rivet ends on, screw it on, done.
Thanks for the reply. How much does a rivet gun cost? How about aluminum tubing? Can I get the aluminum from a Home Depot type store?

Ill try to do some research.

So..... does no one use protection?
don't think so most of use use our trunk space for audio so nothings really back there moving around. i want to put a grill on my w6 but i was reading it might muffle the sub so i think I'm just going to leave it alone.

Home depot has what you're looking for.stroll down the hardware aisle.they have cabinet draw handles in all sizes, some longer than 12".kinda like the idea stated above but already made.just have to screw them to the box from the inside.

Thanks for the replies. I like to keep things "clean", hidden, sounding nice, while keeping the functionality of the trunk so I didn't want to go with a large multi-sub setup.

After mounting the sub in the enclosure, I don't have much room on the right or left side of the speaker to mount a grill. I will have to either fab something or just go without.

I don't think a simple bar grill would muffle the output. The JL grill does however look like it may,

Have you ever seen the Morel 12" grill? It looks pretty nice and has good protection but it's a bit expensive for what it is.

Well, I cant seem to find anything other than the mounting diameter which doesn't help much. I need a grill that either mounts on top of my speaker (like the ultimo) or has a diameter between 12-1/4" and 14". My enclosure is 14"Hx14"W and the sub has an outer diameter of 12-1/4."
