Car door speakers for midbass?

Howdy all!

I recently replaced my crappy 2005 Ford speakers with Infinity Reference speakers. The door is deadened and sealed to an extent, speaker is mounted to a foam ring. The infinity reference midbass is nonexistent! They are so tinny, every high note hurts the ears. The stock speakers have about 4x more midbass!

I'm driving the speakers with a new 22W RMS JVC head unit. What speakers will give me about as much midbass as stock?

you know the speakers are not seeing 22rms .. you will be lucky if they see 12-15rms .

and you need to seal the doors up more. adding $500 speakers in your door will sound about the same as you have now. its all in the door treatment.

But the stockers in an untreated door actually give a "thump" that will fluff my pants. The Infinity in a treated door sounds like tinny ***. What will give me as much midbass as stock?

Hmm... the Infinity advertise themselves as "true 4 ohm" and are 93Db sensitivity or something. So....what would you guys recommend for running off of a 22W RMS HU? I've wired up a 6 channel amp in an older car of mine and don't ever want to do that again :p

if your not going to install an amp and not going to seal up the door, just get another set of stock speakers and be done.

and like i said that h/u is not putting out 22rms.

Decided to go with either JL Audio TR570-CXi or the JBL GTO8629. Which would you recommend if it's running off a 22W head unit? I've read that JL is vastly superior to JBL, but the specs on the JBL seem better for running off a head unit. What do y'all think?

JBL:

93 dB

49 - 21k Hz

5-60 W RMS

3 Ohm

Carbon-injected woofer

Silk tweeter

JL:

90.5 dB

53 - 22k Hz

10-50 W RMS

4 Ohm

Mica filled poly woofer

Textile tweeter

I sealed up my doors with Fatmat but when it gets hot, it leaks out that tar goo, so might avoid that brand at least.
Good point--it gets hot here in Texas. I tried my luck using Peel-N-Seal for the interior door panels, stiff vinyl tile to seal large holes, and a square of thick carpet padding behind the speaker itself. Slightly rigged, but the door is now about 90% sealed instead of 20% sealed. (Dang Ford Focus is more hole than door.)

i'd recommend getting stock speakers, if you dont plan on installing with an amp. Power brings aftermarkets to life. If you skip that aspect, you'll just be throwing money down the drain.

also those cheap stock speakers are paper cones and very low power handling, they play distorted BASS not just midbass thats why you feel it more and you get used to it thinking its natural.

If you arent going to go with a full setup with amp, subs and fully deadened and sealed, its better to just stick with stocks.
