I didn't state Gary's name, if you look above, we still win SQ, like this year at NOPI, USACi, IASCA, etc...and NO, I'm not just talking about Biggs, I'm talking present. My comment was just for generalization that they **** in SQ, can be also proved, at high levels of competition, can STILL win, over similar woofers.I really hate when people mention the SQ championships as a testimonial to the sub's ability. Gary Biggs could make an Abahn sound amazing, for one. And for two, those systems are judged at a relatively low listening level. No offense to you Polecat, and not taking away from the driver's capabilities, but to state Gary Bigg's as an example of what the sub can do isn't really a good real-world example. I hate it when people mention it, because then I have to look like an asshat when I say this. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Just trying to keep some perspective here.
Tracy, Im not saying L7's **** at SQ. But I am saying that rattling off SQ championships is not a good example of the sub's real-wprld capabilities. Again, professional SQ installers/competitors, and a system that is judged at low listening levels. The further the speaker is pushed, the more its weaknesses (or strengths) will show through. L7's strength is its output, its weakness is accuracy. That's the nature of the beast, clearly that was its design intention. Nobody decides to make square cones for the sound quality aspect of it.I didn't state Gary's name, if you look above, we still win SQ, like this year at NOPI, USACi, IASCA, etc...and NO, I'm not just talking about Biggs, I'm talking present. I didn't mean to imply your information was inaccurate. The L series have won SQ awards/comps, no doubt about it. I just think when mentioning such things, maybe an asterisk would be in order. Why not boast accurate information, whether it be street level (most SQ awards this year, were 'consumer' entries by the way) to contridict on the 'lack of SQ' because of shape comments?Just saying that they 'can' have SQ, and 'can' have good output would be more accurate, then saying there is no way it can have SQ. That, is proven, whether in street cars, prefessional cars, daily beaters, etc, etc. there are too many 'street' variables in what sounds good to me, may not to someone else. Question is, whom is correct? Answer, we both are.
Also, we see arguments that woofer "X' has 35mm xamx, so it has to sound amazing. Which we can agree is incorrect, becasue 'real' what you and I consider SQ, is at low volumes, where that much xmax would never be used.
How we intended it to be, and what it has done in both SQ, and SPL, is what the designer of the car it's in has done, not us, we just state what it has done, as accuratly as possible.
With ALL drivers, none are perfect, none are unaccessable to possible damage, none go above or beyond what the user can push through it, or resistance to damage. I surely don't state that and hope it's not assumed that way.
But I can say, just from what I see on my side, is it, or about any woofer can be used for SPL or SQ, when they system is applied, for such job.
Cheers back buddy, never no hard feelings, all good conversation. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
