[QUOTE="audioholic, post: 3630196, member: 549629"] Tracy, Im not saying L7's **** at SQ. But I am saying that rattling off SQ championships is not a good example of the sub's real-wprld capabilities. Again, professional SQ installers/competitors, and a system that is judged at low listening levels. The further the speaker is pushed, the more its weaknesses (or strengths) will show through. L7's strength is its output, its weakness is accuracy. That's the nature of the beast, clearly that was its design intention. Nobody decides to make square cones for the sound quality aspect of it. Kicker made square subs, great. Kicker wants to claim the benefits in output based on this design. Also great. But, what I do not like, is Kicker (or Kicker fans) pretending there is no compromises made in the design in terms of SQ. A large, relatively heavy cone, with stiffening ribs to help it maintain its shape without warping under stress... is not the recipe for a SQ speaker. Its the recipe for a sub trying to get the most Sd possible, for a street beater. You know it, I know it. Play to the sub's strengths, but to play it up as some world champion level SQ sub also, is not being true to the design. Again, no disrepect to Kicker, or you Tracy. But I think its unfair to boast the benefits of a speaker design, and pretend the drawbacks do not exist. Cheers.
