12" l7's ****

They are great for SPL and do **** for SQ alhough SQ was ok in sealed box. I had a pair of them behind the seat in reg. cab truck in a big sealed box. They shook the piss out of everything with only 1100 watts. Put the same subs in a buddies Suburban with about 1.75cu ft. and roughly 20sq in. (cant remember) x 25" long port each. Box was supposed to be tuned to 32 or 33hz. Ran them off a Sony 900watt mono-block(weak). I know it is a TINY box for an L7, but I already had it built. It was LOUD. The loudest I have ever felt.

note: I said felt not heard.

go ported if you want loud, you wont be dissapointed.

Ive heard the L7's and the CVX's and the CVX's got just as loud as the L7 and sounded better doing it. Also you can find CVX's for **** cheap and you can reuse the box you build if you decide to try some different subs.

I would just go with the cvx's if your planning on going with kicker.

I helped install one in a buddies F-150. Driver was in a 1 cube sealed box an even in that small of a box it still sounded muddy/sloppy. Bass wasnt all that tight.

I used a 15" L7 for a good year or so, and had no complaints with the SQ. I mean, back to back with my XXX, sure the XXX sounded better, but it wasn't night and day. It was plenty tight for double bass rolls and whatnot. It got a bit boomy on bass guitar, but good midbass really cleans it up.

I think they're better than people give them credit for.

ok well what subs do some of you guys recomend i have a 400 dollar budget for subs and another question will 2 of the cvrxs hit harder and be a better system than 2 l7's 12"

or will 3 hit harder than 2 l7's bc with the price diff i can afford 3 cvrx's and i might have enough room for 3 since they take less airspace in a ported box than a l7 why is that

thanks

Oh I was completely satisfied with mine until I got tired of not having any leg room to drive comfortably. That was my only real complaint. One bad thing about having a regular cab truck.

cvrx? do you mean cvr or cvx?

From your original post I'd get the idea you were concerned about accuracy, what does "hitting harder" have anything to do with that?

This is what I don't understand about this place anymore...read the signature.
