Your subs will sound weak until you upgrade the amplifier

There's a lot of wicked cheap amplifiers out there though, just find a buyer for your current amp then save up for a better one.

and agree with the other dude, MAX means absolutely nothing, in fact I'm pretty sure the only reason max would ever be advertised is for people who don't know about car audio, to see a high number and go YAY!

you'll notice higher end companies don't even list max anywhere on their product, catalog, manual etc. why? because it means nothing, it's not a number you WANT to get to, because max is the top something can take pretty much before it explodes/breaks

that's like me saying I run my radio volume settings at 32, but it MAXes out at 60!!!

tell me, when you crank ANYTHING up all the way, doesn't it usually sound pretty terrible?

but in the case of car amps/subs it's even worse, because if something goes on max too long, it gets damaged from reasons like clipping, overheating, xmax goes more than it should, etc

ok so max means nothing gotcha, ok so my subs so bascially any sub i cam gonna buy is gonna be at 4ohms.... so when looking at amps i should be looking at what the power output is at 4ohms correct??

just one sub?? yes... look for a SVC 4ohm woofer... or a DVC 2ohm woofer (probably all of these will be a lot more RMS then what you will have)

yes just one sub... im thinking on getting an infinity kappa perfect.... the rms on that sub is 350 watts.... i cant find anwyere what the rms of my visonik amp is all it ever says is 350 max... so 100 maby?? so if i used the visonik on that infinity it wouldnt be much power right?? what if i got a 200W 4ohm amp, would this be much better??

Don't worry bout people like him. They only do that because they don't have any balls and they talk sh!t because they're behind a computer screen. People on here are so ruthless. I mean so what, he wants Sony? They're not that great but thats what the guy wants. Why push all this other crap on him when all he asked was how would they sound with his amp. I mean people make suggestions, but why do you have to be like "Sony sucks, get this because I have it". Some of you guys need to back off people just starting to get into car audio and maybe help them because thats what a forum is for. Instead you'd rather sport your pathetic ego's like your the sh!t and you act like idiots. How about giving the man some advice instead of you bullsh!t?

ok when i posted about my car i wasnt refering to it as a POS lol, i was just saying i dont got like a sport car or massive SUV, so i dont need insane crazy stuff.... yes i do realize that visonik is fairly poor, but it was 50$.... so i didnt care... like a 12inch box alone is 79.99..... i got sub, amp and box... so i took it.... plus that gave me the motivation to run wires through my car lol, dad still doesnt know either. budget is not really an issue.... but i dont want to spend alot.. like i know good quality stuff does cost more... and yes mike i have loooked into those subs and stuff, pretty sweet.
i was also looking on this site http://www.sonicelectronix.com/ they got some realllly cheap stuff on here... see now since ive got the car wired, now i can upgrade...

I have a used type R 12" d4 though 500rms that works perfect! If interested PM me, is dirt cheap and looking to get rid of it.

If not, look into what Mike Dressure mentioned, those arent too bad.

Just buy a type r and be done with it. There's no use in spending money on something that's not really an upgrade.

yea i know type R is really good, but i dont need anything that crazy, im just gonna get either a pioneer champ or infinity kappa perfect tehre onsale for like 120 CAn right now lol, 199 with a box..... 350Rms but i would like to know how well my 350W mono amp will power it... or should i get a new one?? and when buying an amp i should look at the 4ohm rating since thats what ill be running the sub at right"?
