10ga speaker wire, on my Fi's

yeeea.

just fyi, amplifiers put out VOLTAGE and small current.

they TAKE IN low voltage and HIGH current.

you just need a wire that can sustain like 50~100v (unless you are pushing some real power) over a few feet. wich is not hard.

10 guage, is really REALLY overkill imo. but hey, whatever tickles your asshole.

he prolly stripped the wire really little and had a little wire exposed to connect the speakers with heh

Hello/

Actually...there was an Installer from Oklahoma who "Actually Did use 1/0 to his Subs via 1/0 to 4Gauge reducer"...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif !!.The guy had a White Ford Festiva(I believe) and had

15's.He ground down the adapters to fit the Sub terminals. They did some cutting of the car too!

It was featured in a car audio mag...honestly.That was the 1st time I've heard that large a Guage used for subs...Dammmm,Love the overkill.

I myself have the old school Phoenix Gold/10-gauge Speaker cable(Red & White insulation per lead,w/the Emerald Green outer jacket that is run for ALL my spkrs.(EXCEPT THE Eclipse Ti's) in 1989/Mustang GT.

I may opt for 4-Gauge pow. & grnd. just for Sh!tz & Giggles/:laugh: .

But heh...that's the fun and enjoyment of Car Audio...Being different. But also strive to be better/learn the good things(habits) from Installers and others.

And be willing to share your projects and new found things w/others if you would.

Ok...I babbled enough.All the Best w/your system,too./;) .

Will you show pics of your progress of your system? It's nice to show the Build up of systems.Take Care

Best Regards/

Raymond

The lower the ohm load on the amp the more it matters. If running under 1ohm I highly suggest thick speaker cable ie. 8awg or bigger depending on amplifiers ability to deliver current. Not so much a big deal with most daily setups but very important for spl vehicles that deliver huge current to their subs

i use 8ga
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/word.gif.64b12e39f936af3b4fff38a1c0bd0244.gif I was given a lot of the Scosche brand 8 gauge a couple years ago....so gotta use it up.

Plus a little 12 gauge wire just wouldnt look right next to the BTL. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fro.gif.c695f1f814b01c4ad99fe7f8cccadd29.gif

Certainly nothing wrong with overkill. Some guys at caraudioforum.com gave me negative feedback for suggesting to someone to use 1/0 when he could have gotten away with using 4 gauge. I don't get some people...

What ohm load are your subs?

Amps deliver large voltage small current to subs, and recieve high current low voltage from your electrical system.

Don't post if you don't know wtf you're talking about.

You are right to a point, but until you understand how an amp delivers power under 1ohm you need make sure you know what you're talking about! I've been doing this longer than you've been on this planet. Why do you think subs catch fire or burn leads off, go ahead I'll give you a minute......................that's right current not voltage. So don't assume I don't know what I'm talking about because you have a huge lesson to learn.
