100A AGU fuse, big-3

what you guys think of these for the big 3? i have an agu fuse holder laying around and thought i would put an 100A agu fuse in it and do the big-3 with it for the +alt to +battery with 4ga power wire.

My car has a 175 ANL fuse stock on around 8 AWG. But that sounds about right for 4 AWG maybe 150.

umm i dont think ur supposed to have more than like an 80a on 8awg... and 150 for 4awg...goto darvex.com and look at the stinger MIDI fuses and fuse holder they are like mini anl fuses, but they are cheaper and works alot better than agu fuses, its like $20 for the holder and 3 fuses

what are the differences between the AGU and MIDI?

im guessing it goes

ANL > MIDI > AGU > MAXI ?

AGU fuses come apart alot of times, MAXI fuses are used in your amp and i think they only go up to 80a MIDI are like 30-150 i think and ANL i think is like 50-300, if your using 4 or 8awg wire i would use MIDI fuses, and for 0awg i would use ANL

ah, so its a matter of availability and options.

looks like ill go with midi for compact sizing and cheaper than anl

one last question: 100A or 125A on the MIDI fuse on 4ga power wire that will have about 2-3 feet of 4ga on each side of the fuse holder?

why do u have 2-3 feet on both sides the fuse should be as close to your batt as u can like within a foot or so...i got 125a on my 4awg wire

oh yeah i forgot u were doing the big 3 not for the amp, but i think the fuse placement still applies, and need to be close to the batt since thats where the power is coming from. I would also recommend getting your stuff from http://www.darvex.com instead of sd.com it should be cheaper and thats the other place i kno of that you can get teh MIDI fuses. If you havnt already ordered the wire i would get it from http://www.weldingsupply.com they also have connectors on there.

its only gonna be 2-3ft long at most. but your right, i think ill just cough up more bucks and get new terminals for 4ga and fuse it by battery.

rather pay more to be safe than sorry
