Any decent speaker with only 1 sq" of port area should chuffle like nothing else. Hell, one of my HT subs that's got 2 2" ports and only a single weak 12 has port noise at high levels.

Yeah, its a joke to me, I hate it. I am taking a fab class and the teacher is 19, and he knows alot about fab, but still its not that great. I got a class for next month that deals with home entertainment, and alarm systems and smart house shit. The teacher in this class is actually old and knows alot of shit. I am looking forward to his class. He knows how much ohms a resister has by looking at the bands on it thats how good he is.

it could happen with a retarded port. a 6" long 1" port would be tuned so high it wouldnt make a difference... it would be more like a controlled leak.

If it really was a 1" by 1" square port that was 6" deep, it would be tuned below 20hz in an enclosure bigger than 1 cube. If it is tuned that low, the sub will act like it is in a sealed enclosure of that size. That's why it made no difference when they covered it.

Just like an enclosure tuned to 30hz, the port will aid in output around 30hz and about 1/2 octave above but anything above that and the port basically stands still like a piece of wood. It acts like another wall on the enclosure and the sub acts like it is in a sealed enclosure.
