1 ohm = 'dirty signal'?

So I was talking to a company today, and they do NOT recommend 1 ohm from any amp for their speakers because the signal is 'dirty'. They recommend ONLY 2 ohm and 4 ohm from an amp because they are 'cleaner' signals.

I have run many systems, all at a little over, at, or below 1 ohm and have never had a problem with this so called 'sub destroyer' problem they are talking of. The only thing I can think of is setting the gains wrong when running 1 ohm since output is obviously greater at 1 ohm than 2 or 4.

What do you guys think?

Yup, had some guy at the local audio shop tell me the same thing. He also said most amps more power a 4ohms then they do at 1ohm and it is very rare to find a amp that produces power the other way around... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

Technically it is true to a point... any given amp, even one sable at a 1 ohm will produce a lower THD at 4 ohms. Modern subwoofers amps produce such a low THD within reasonable limits at 1 ohm that this is a total non-issue, though.
