1/0 Welding Wire Vs 1/0 Alumnium Wire

when looking at wire size remember even if you have two pieces of wire that are 1/0 the piece that has more strands can handle more amps OUTRIGHT NO EXCEPTIONS. I'm a journeyman electrician so take my word for it.

i bought the 4 guage wire from home depot just because i wanted to test a amp... each strand was real thick and there were not alot of strands.. is that welding wire?
Is THIS what you bought at Home Depot? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

copper is a better conductor ask any electrician the aluminum is just lots cheaper. QUOTE]
Copper has a higher ampacity rating. When using aluminum conductors, the standard is to go to the next recommended size for the application. That is per the NEC(National Electrical Code).
So to get the same benefit out of 1/0 copper, you need 2/0 CCA?
