Hello everyone,
In 2009 I installed Alpine SPR-60C components and an SWR-12 sub in my Malibu (new body style). They're ran off of two Cadence amps and the components have 150 watts RMS (clean w/ no clipping) available. Also installed correctly in a sealed door.
Well right from the start I wasn't a fan of the Alpine tweeters. They are a bit harsh for me! Recently one woofer stopped working, so it's time for replacement! I've been out of the scene for a bit and I'm not really up on what's currently available, so I thought I'd jump over to my favorite car audio forum and ask for some advice. I mostly listen to hair bands, rap, alternative, and a bit of the upbeat country (none of that I lost my dog, wife, and truck stuff).
I'm looking to stay under $200 street price. I'm also looking for smoother tweets and solid mid-bass.
I know the SPR-60C's had a mounting depth of 2 1/2", but for the life of me I can't remember how much extra door space I had, so if you have a Malibu feel free to jump in.
Here's what I've been looking at:
Cadense ZRS6k (2.75 depth)
Polk Audio DXi6500 (2.25 depth)
Morel Maximo 6 (2.5 depth)
Image Dynamics CTX65CS (2.75 depth)
Massive Audio CK6V (2.5 depth)
Open to any other suggestions!
So, which of these do you think sound the best with smooth highs and solid mid-bass?
Thanks in advance for your help and opinions as I know this question is posted thousands of times in one way or another, but there is so much information in so many threads it's hard to get a grasp on it!
