06 Door Deadened (pics, 56k'rs beware...)

lol at using plexi, sense it would get a layer or 2 of deadener on it...
*shrug*

reminds me of an HID retrofit i saw were a guy used carbon fiber for the frames inside of the headlights, from which the projectors protrude. He then painted over it... people made similar comments. Its about using what you've got availible that works, and plex works well according to a certain sticky on this very forum...

i KNOW dude... i'm all about the weight reduction...

i'm on stage 20,749 of mine... thats where all you've got left is an engine, a transmission, a couple wheels, and a seat so small you can barely fit your @ss on it.

wait thats a motorcycle //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I used cardboard because it's what I had available. I bought 1/2" MDF but it was too thick. When I did a test fit with it screwed into place the door wouldn't fit back on! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif Also, if you look in the pics you can see that the window tracking is almost dead on the inner skin so putting something in from the inside was out of the question. I was about to get really bummed, but I saw the HUGE Ashley furniture box laying there and said "hmmmm". I still can tell a huge difference. Plus, I figured if I was going to give it two layers of deadener, it didn't really matter what I used. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

I'm far from a ricer. I have a 140 hp motor...like that's going to cause damage to speed records. Plus the 30lb bike rack and 2 BMX bikes would hinder any chances of me being fast. Believe it or not, people actually rev up at lights on me even when that stuff is on there. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Im supprised that your door has that big a hole in it. The hole in my door to get to deaden the outside skin of the car was just big enough to get two fists through on my IS300. I wish i could have worked on a civic!

That was the one GOOD thing about this install. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

x2

cardboard is flexible... so its pretty easy to apply on a door which is never flat...

mdf is too complicated IMO, i tried, worthless when alot of holes, might try cardboard soon:D
