06 Cobalt problem

I don't think that this problem has anything to do with my audio system, but it can't hurt to ask. I have a 2006 Cobalt, and a 1600w hifonics amp wired to 2 alpine type r's (12s).

Ever since i got the car (before i got the subwoofers/head unit installed) it dies randomly. It's happened maybe 10 times now in 3 months. I go to start the car, i turn the key halfway so the lights and everything come on and it's normal. But when i turn the key to start the engine sometimes (Randomly) the car clicks once and everything just shuts down. Then the car needs to be jumped. Once the car is jumped everything will work fine for a while, and it will happen again randomly. I took it to the dealership (after removing the amp/subs of course) and they told me it was the body control module, and there was a service bulliten issued for the specific model of my car. So they replaced that, but a week after it happened again. What i think is weird is almost every time it has happened the radio hasn't even been on for days. It has only happened once when the radio was on and the subs were hitting. I think it's coincidence. But just to make sure, could my amp/subs be possibly causing ANY complication with this issue?

Thats what we figured.. tested the battery at autozone, and 2 other local places. Everyone says the battery is fine.

I have a friend with a 05 cobalt with the same problem...It is the battery....He had the battery that came with the car.....We replaced it and it hasn't done it since....I would suggest getting a new battery!!

sounds more like a alternator problem that the battery isnt getting charged.

could be a battery thou.

test the alt out, start the car and unplug the battery, does the car still run? if not its the alternator.

it might also be the alternator regulator.

either way since the car is new the "lemon law" applies to your car, if the same thing goes wrong 3 times they are supposed to exchange the whole car for you.

you would have to look at specifics of the law but it goes something like that

yes i would replace the battery.. but the car is 3 months old! and its been there twice already. ohios lemon law states that 3 times for the same problem and they have to replace it. however the dealership could use my aftermarket HU as an affirmative defense. which is my only concearn. but if i am stuck with the car you say i should check the battery out first? also, there is NO way the amp could do this correct?
