02 Tahoe Factory Speakers

Already Being Used....
So a customer of mine wants me to finish off some audio installation in his 02 Tahoe. He doesnt have the bose, but it does have the sub in the back and a pair of what appears to be tweets in the rear pillars. I already replaced all his door speakers and now he wants to replace that factory HU and sub with another 10" kicker he bought. Heres my questions, im hoping someone maybe has done some work with these models or has had one themselves.

1. When i put an aftermarket HU in, will the sub and those rear speakers work? not sure if there ran off a seperate amp somewhere or the factory HU. Im guessing theres an amp, not sure about those rear pillar speakers tho.

2. He was told it was a 10", looking by it it through the panel it looks to be accurate, just want to make sure before i get into taking the back apart. Ill check crutchfield or sumn to get a positive on that too.

3. once i take the side panels out to get to the sub, anyone know if there is room under there to mount a small monoblock/2 channel?

Thanks for any help. Im going to get into it and go to town either way, just figured i could maybe get a little insight/heads up before starting.

When I did my suburban there's a wire you have to jump inside the dash at the radio harness to get the speakers to power up if using all the factory amps though I will tell you it will sound like complete garbage better off using head unit power.

k ya im gonna plan on just running the doors off the new HU for now and run a small amp to the sub. He uses the truck for work alot so he didnt want to put a 5 channel in. Im gonna still try to talk him into that too tho

i kept the factory head, and it sounds fine for me. the factory head turns on the factory amp with a remote wire. are you using the adapter module? the sub in the rear is a 2ohm 8" sub in a small sealed plastc box. i highly doubt you could really fit a 10 in there, or that it will sound good, but you can replace it with an enclosure for a 10 just fine, and if the amp is small enough, you can mount it to the upper wheel-well brace, iirc. i put a diamond in mine, and ran the wires to under the mid row seats, since i don't feel like taking the pannel off again. if you bypass the amp, you will loose the output to the rear pillar speakers, and factory sub output. however, you may get away with splicing the factory amp inputs with the speaker wires, and leave those 4 channels unhooked and taped off at the speakers. then, it can still play the other channels.
