On this head unit, how do you know which wires run to the back speakers and which ones to the front? I'm trying to run a subwoofer and I don't won't to cut a wire and splice it with my subwoofer and then find out its a front speaker or tweeter wire. Are the back wires always on bottom? Please help!

....why not get a new HU that is made to have a subwoofer, u cant jsut splice in a sub, u need to get the signal to the amp and then the woofer

I don't want a new HU. The one I got is fine I just can't figure out how to get a sub hooked up. I did price ones w/ sub outputs though, and it would cost me at least $150.

when you do replace your headunit, you need an RC01 adapater for that year/model/car

it's 99 bucks on top of the headunit price.

if i were you, i'd tap the wires, not cut, tape and splice them, get the electrical taping connectors from a stereo store, they'll give you em for like a dollar if it's a decent store.

Thanks guys. That sounds like a simple solution. I found an orange wire running up under the back seat a few minutes ago that looks like its powering some things up under the car on the back side. I thought about tapping into there somehow to power my sub amp.

Another Question though, I've also bought some "caps" to put on the front speakers to eliminate the lows out of them b/c they're rattling something on my doors. I figure the subwoofer and the good back speakers I have will make up for any lost frequencies. My question though is how do I know which wires go to my front woofers. I can't seem to get inside the doors to just go straight behind them so I have to go behind the head unit pretty much to get to them. I also have tweeters up front that I don't won't to get confused w/ the front woofers. Thanks to all.

I forgot one thing I was going to ask about too. Where you're suppose to connect the power on the sub amp, there is something that says +12V, REM, and Ground. This is what I think those mean:

+12V= Positive

REM= Negative

and Ground is just Ground I'm pretty sure.

Is that right?

For new commers to this thread, I've posted another question right before this one about my front speakers.

REM is not a negative, REM is the remote turn on wire, basically it send voltage to the amp so it knows to turn on.

Run it to a switched 12V source, meaning it has power when the car is on and no power when the car is off

Provided it's not a Monsoon system, you can find the speaker wires behind the head unit. You can install the bass blockers there too.

Front left: tan (+) gray (-)

Front right: light green (+) dark green (-)

Rear left: brown (+) yellow (-)

Rear right: dark blue (+) light blue (-)

Note that there will be more than one wire that is yellow and more than one green wire. The correct speaker wire pairs should be placed next to each other in the harness.

Your particular radio doesn't use a switched "accessory" power wire, so the easiest place to tap your remote wire will probably be the fuse box. As was said before, find a fuse that is powered only while the key is on.

if you do buy an aftermarket headunit you dont have to bnuy that 100 dollar part to make it work. my harness for my car that i purchased (02 sunfire) has a fused power wire long enough to go to the fuse box the only difference is that you chime for key in ignition and lights left on will not ding.

and what was the problem with getting into the doors? power windows/locks or manual?
