02 Jeep Grand Cherokee Build (AKA Project Silent Night)

Alright this will be the last update for a few weeks I'm going out of town. I got some fuses in the mail last night and this morning I paid for two banks of 73ah K2 lithium cells. They are a little older and should have little to no use. If you didn't see them shared on Facebook they were $175+$17 per module and I made an offer and got a little bit off but they are worth the gamble. Travis Young of JY Power said these are likely to be close to the output of their new 45ah cells due to age. I talked to another guy that's running 16K+ off two banks so I'm sure these will suffice for what I'm planning. I almost bought 3 banks lol.

Well you know how I said I was done with updates, I may have fibbed a little. A guy on Facebook had some Soundigital 8K's for sale and then a member of the CACO Facebook group talked to me about them as he has 4 in his build. He recommended that I talk to Cody Johnson of DroppingHZ so I did at like 10 o'clock last night and I ended up ordering 3 new Soundigital EVO 8K 2 ohm models. I will have enough Brazilians that I could have made my cage without a welder lol. Already got tracking for one amp, he has to order two more for me. The good news is most of the expensive things are paid for.

Still need to acquire the following items.

4 Channel KNU Krystal RCA's

4 Channel Amp(s)

Mids & Highs for doors

10-12 runs Electron Beam 2/0

Wood

Fiberglass, Resin & Filler

Oscilloscope

RCA distribution box (thinking of making my own)

Heim Joints

Copper Bar (for lithium bus bars)

More lugs (2/0 and 8 gauge)

Time to assemble everything

Well I came home to a mini Christmas today, I thought I'd be gone longer. I will be gone for 5 weeks when I leave next Monday. Anyhow my lithium modules arrived, not much to say about them so far they're nice and light though. My Soundigital 8k's came as well along with a Dropping Hz T-Shirst, also got my huge chunk of copper at .75x3 inches to make my bars for the lithiums. Additionally I got 60 female panel mount RCA's and a project box to make my own **** Box just waiting on the silver wire to solder everything together. The rest of my week off I'm hoping to get some wood to line the shell so when I get a design I can just do the loading wall and baffle and have it done fast. I'll probably post some more pictures of one of the amps tomorrow or all of them, I was too lazy to really look them over today.

Well it isn't finished yet but you guys get the idea. Needs a coat of paint (it's snowing so the paint won't happen anytime soon) and the wire to solder everything together. It will be for 4 monos and 4 4 channels. I probably won't have that many amps but the project box was so big I felt obligated to use a lot of the RCA's. Project cost $60 (including the wire), for another $10 I could make an identical one.

Well I went to home depot today and got railed on sheets of Birch it was $50 a sheet and that's not even for baltic birch which they didn't have anyways. The only upside is the wood has some nice grain to it. I picked up 4 of the 5 sheets that they had and I know I'll need a couple more. I also bought 6 tubes of PL 8X, another can or plasti dip for the windows and a 4 foot straight edge.

Got home and made a couple cuts for the side pieces and mapped out some more cuts but it's 20 degrees out and I'm not freezing when it's going to be pretty nice on Thursday. The wire for the RCA box came today as well. More updates soon...maybe.

Mapping some cuts:

4 sheets should get me most of the way.

Well photobucket is being dumb and worthless so I'm trying flickr if this doesn't work I'll have to wait for photobucket to get fixed. I made some progress today but it's a slow go. The sides were a pain to get to fit right due to the angles, etc. Once I got them in I traced all the squares then removed them and drew the lines so I had a grid on the back side. Afterwards I drew all the places for the self tappers, I bought 400 1 3/4 for the sides so theres a ton of holes. Luckily I had my girlfriend drilled the holes, I think it's about 150 holes per side. The holes still need to be drilled through the steel, so tomorrow I'm hoping to do that and get them adhered to the cage with the PL 8x. I also cut one of the pieces for the back the cage is a little out of square so I will have to sand one side a little to get it to fit a little better. Overall it's just tedious but progress is progress. The edges I also used a round over on so the welds wouldn't get in the way that are in the corners.

If you look closely you can see all the holes overkill:

Well photobucket is back up so that's good news. Slow go today had to pre drill all the holes for the self tappers. Each side used 130 screws and the back panel used 76 so that's 336 holes that I had to drill. I was using some low quality drill bits and it was frustrating because I was snapping them pretty frequently and it took a while to drill the holes. I plan to order some better ones to finish up the rest. Things do seem solid though, tomorrow I'm hoping to cut the remaining pieces for the roof floor etc, the angled ones will be the hardest. Going to have to cut an angle over 45 degrees on the table saw so that will be interesting. I bought 4 McLaren MLT-4B tweets (two per door) from a guy on Facebook so that will be something to come home to. Now I just need to decide on mids.
