hey all, i saw some wire on ebay, 25' 0/1 gauge for approx $30.

pics appear to be very fine strands..

Whats the deal?there has to be a catch right?

Has anyone used this cheap wire before?

ebay ad says:

Copper-Clad Aluminum Wire (CCA)

1/0 Gauge Wire

25 Feet

Blue in Color

Rugged Tough Coating

Oxygen Free

Xtreme Twisted

Ultra Flexible

Weight: 4.5 LBS

Still no specs on the wire. I would avoid.
Most people run

Knukonceptz

Sky high

Welding cable.

Because its proven.

Welding cable if you want it.

1/0

What amp/s are you running so we can tell you what wire you will need.
ya what are you running.??

most go for ofc wire. i do .

and i would not get that wire ether.

ive ordered AB vfl 4480, and plan on adding a 4 channel amp(nothing big, 300 rms x4?) for door speakers.

That said, ima run AB amp on my RF p1s' until i get the box built for the 2 sa-12s i want to install.

was also gonna use excess wire for the big 3.

seemed like its too good to be true, you dont know if you dont ask.

Thats about as big as the system will ever be. i currently have 4gauge ima tear out to replace 1/0 with.

you'll want a 0 to 4 gauge reducer. The 4480.1 only fits 4 gauge.

The AB VFL 4480 is a Class D design and very efficient, 4 gauge is plenty big for it..

Class AB amplifiers are less efficient but even with 1200 watts the 4 gauge is fine for 20 feet or less..

In this case there's nothing wrong with overkill but even 2 gauge would be better choice than 1/0.

Look at the 4 or 8 gauge battery cables on your car, when the starter is engaged they carry a lot more current than your sound system will ever draw..

Do you still think you need 1/0 ?

Check for voltage drop with your current setup and cables, measure voltage at battery and at amplifier, get back to us withe measurements..
