Hello all. I've been out of car audio for a long time. Forgot I was even a member of this forum till today. Just spent the last hour reading through some of my old post from 14 yrs ago lol. I'm am old man now but I still love a good sounding system. I'm taking over my father's 06 F150 supercrew cab because he's no longer able to drive. The truck is stock and the HU is a factory 6 disc changer that doesn't work. I'm gonna change the HU. Then I thought to myself, you still have some old equipment. Why not put a full system in? So I guess that's what I'm gonna do. There are things I will need to get. So here it is. I'm not looking to break the bank or break the ground. Just want something nice and clean on a budget . I have 2 old alpine type r 10's(swr1042D I think), I have a jl 300/4v1 a jl 1000/v1, a DD MC1, jl 6x9(c2690 something). But one cone is seized but the mid range a tweeter still works. May just throw those in the back doors for rear fill? So basically need a hu and door speakers. Factory speakers are 6x8. Looking for some good clean budget friendly options. Not opposed to a component set, but that wasn't my first choice. Any suggestions? Also don't have a problem buying used if anyone has something nice for a decent price.
Funny thing is most of the equipment I have to use was bought from the classifieds from this site back in 2011. Everything still works perfectly with the exception of one of the 6x9 speakers. Gotta love old gen car audio.

This is not the same place it was 14 years ago, but welcome back. Noobs have like 4000w starter sub systems now haha. Subwoofer and battery technology have come really far for sure. I would do like get really powerful front door speakers and just have rear fill, keep sound in front of you besides bass, maybe some midbass

Interesting landscape nowadays to be sure. I see more integration inquiries than anything anymore. Nowadays it seems to be more about your steering wheel controls coupled with 3K on a stock alt /w/ a bigger agm and forget about staging. Its usually my stock locations are filled with nuthugger brands without any installation.
Ho-hum... I swear the interwebs are making humanity more lazy and even more prone to marketing.

What ever happened to enclosure design, front stage along /w/ low voltage signal and install? Inmho those are the big 4 where audio is concerned... not how to integrate your low voltage tablet into a stock vehicle and run like 4K on a stock alternator with a single run of 0ga.

I do help but not too often, usually it turns into a keyboard warrior-fest. It seems its better to be 1st than dig a little to be accurate. No shade thrown at anyone but certain questions should be asked before answering. Low traffic site I understand but better to be on point than slinging Fox boxes inmho

Yup. I can't believe I've been a member here for over 20 years lol. The bad news is I'm too old and feeble to do much physical installing nowadays. The good news is that I have the money to pay someone else to do it for me :D

Of course, my EE degree still sometimes gets me in trouble. Such is life.
