do yall think this is possible???

Remember that a 1 ohm load rating on a sub is just an average. The actual impedance varies with frequency. There are shure to be some big peaks and dips. The amp may be stable with a certain sub at 1 ohm but choke with another sub at 1 ohm. I don't think that I would take the chance and push it.

    tuning

I didn't look at the tutorial that was listed above yet but the cross sectional area of port is how many square inches the opening is. For example you can make a port opening round, square, or slotted it makes no difference as long as the area of the opening is the same and the length is the...

to all ED k lovers and owners

You should get more out of a pair of 12's then a single 15. I would go for the 12's. It looks like from what you listed that these are dual voice coil subs so each 12 would net 2 ohms and together the pair would bring you down to 1 ohm so this would pull 1000w from your amp. Just curious is your...

    Grille

Just drove home with it a few minuets ago. A 2003 Volkswagen Passat. Lots of room good loacations for speakers, double din, plus another din in center consol, cd changer shelf in trunk. This thing has some serious potential to do some nice stuff all in factory locations. The rear deck is hudge I...

    Reconnecting Tinsel Leads

I have done this a few times before. It is easy to make the wire to short after soldering it back on only to have the driver pop it back off after a long excursion. I found the best way is to add a little leangth of wire to it to prevent this from happeneing. You also have to be very carefull...

    Grille

It took a while to figure out what would be the best way to protect the driver and all my thinking went no where, The idea occured to me when I was thinking about something else. I have an extended cab on my truck with the box in back of the seat. I never had a problem myself but I have lost...

    Grille

I ran into this same problem with my Orion 12" HCCA. The solution I found was to get a 15" grill and cut a ring out of wood and carpet it to act as a standoff for the grill.

    Screws

See what they feel like when you tighten them. If they tighten up nice you should be fine but if they are stripped...... If when you installed the speaker you drilled the correct piolet hole and made a good cutout so that the screws are not right on the edge all should fine. I have changed...

    Can you port a trunk?

Are you mounting the sub in the rear deck to? It wasn't to clear from your post, on the otherhand I tend to be a little brain dead this time of the day. If you are mounting the subs on the deck that setup is an infinite baffel and you need to have subs with a tight suspention to work like that...

    question

That should work fine then. Even if she wanted to add another amp later on you could always y them, get an eq with fader/sub out or a multichannel amp for the system. Most multichannel amps have a provision so that they can work with only 1 input then you would just use the pots to balance it out.

    speaker help ASAP

An amp will of course be better but woman don't tend to be as demanding as we are so I bet you can get away with the amp in the hu. If not that can be a surprise gift for sometime in the future when you are in the doghouse.

    Upgrade Suggestions

I would start by adding the sub and amp combo that you wish to have onto the existing system. MB's are a little bright and this prob helps make them sound thin without any subs. The system should sound decent once you get some bass in there. If after adding bass you are not happy with the rest...

    What would you do?

I haven't used those particular 6X8 Polks but I do have a set of Polk components as well as a pair of Polk 5.25 coaxials and they sound great.......of course the components are better though.

    What would you do?

You can make an adapter out of plywood to fit components in the 6X8 openings or if you don't feel like itsomething like these should work. http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-kcmp0lieoHC/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=10&g=52200&I=107EX368&o=m&a=0 For the subs check the box volume...
