I dont think 650 will get you very far for a good system with two twelves. If you dont want to rattle the trunk off go with one nicer 12. then you could afford a better amp for the price range. thats just my opinion...

after playing for an extended time period my amp is overheating and shutting off on me. I have 8 guage wiring ran about 14' to a 500 watt amp. this is a little underpowering, but could this be my reason for overheating?

I have a phoenix gold xs2500 and I dont know whats wrong with it. My right channel works fine, but my left channel doesnt work. and when I bridge it, it works. (R+ and L-) with the left channel not working properly, could this affect the wattage when bridged? and what could cause this problem?
