I have my eclipse 12" sub in a .85 cu. in. box (recommended for boomy bass). and I am not too impressed with the sound I am getting from the sub. theres just some lows that it is struggling to hit. its running on a PG xs2500 amp. Ive used insulation before in my old system. would polyfill make a difference? or should I try building a bigger box, if so how big? any suggestions would help me out a lot.

I'd go ahead and try polyfill first, it won't hurt, and is cheaper than building a bigger box...

If that doesn't remedy the situation, I used them in 1.2 cubes on average with good results... They lag behind on some music no matter what, the best enclosure I've had for them so far is aperiodic.

its a sealed box, and I do want better SQ. I thought I read somewhere that this sub is made for sealed enclosures (which I like better anyways). thanks for the replies fellas..

yea it probably will work best in the sealed box for sq....i was thinking maybe you were wanting spl out of a sealed box....i would go w/ the larger box then....and some poly fill...good luck

I think a .85cu in box wouldnt be giving that sub enough air to move inside the box. It would be compressing/decompressing too much, causing the sub not to make proper excursion. Correct me if im wrong.
