2025 f150 supercrew build?

Makes sense, system build fatigue sounds real. Also I see those forward facings and think how pissed I am if my kid kicks it. Even. Protective bars. Radius defintely would be a must for my ocd
Skarr has some full face grills that looks nice, completely covering their 8's.....

Finally after waiting for mti to play catch-up with their BF pile of orders, took over 6 weeks to get the block off plates.
Got the sound deadening done,
Off to the shop to do the install & tune,

Well, hopefully this time around the CDT's doing me better this go around than last, this time with a DSP from the get go....
Went with CDT all the way around for 3 way sound stage, cashed in on the BF sale theyre offering.
Ive been badgering Dox for weeks, Stevens Tweeter vs cdt es1200...
Sounds like the Stevens would sound better but I went with easy, I like bright.....
Can always swap them out if theyre over the top, not a huge investment there.
went with
hd-690cf 2ohm 6x9 mid woofer front doors
es1200is tweeter
es-03 3" mid range
es-6ex1 6.5" 2ohm coaxial rear doors

Stinger mt 2000, running at 1 ohm
Audio Control 6.1200 dsp amp

Rolled the dice & went with 2 Prodigy 12 Shallow subs NB3, that claim to handle 800 rms & has some presence in the SQ comps, so hope they dont totally disappoint
3" voice coil.
Also rolled the dice on a sealed down fire dual 12" SKAR box for $130

Had SQ-USA model the subs & box combo for me over at DYI.
Their response....

This doesn't look bad, but the specs on the prodigy look suspect. I modeled it quickly (blue is with cabin gain), at 800W each sub. You are good with xmax, but I wouldn't go much beyond that. For the price, I would at least try this first; you could probably resell the whole box for close to what you paid. Make a build thread and post pics.

Those Prodigies look interesting.
Fingers crossed......

Ateast it gets me started, & cheap.....
The amp of choice can handle anything I throw under the seat,
So if it sucks, its not very dynamic / musical, I blow them up, etc...
Im not out a ton of money.

The owner claims they have a few guys doing SQ comps with them, so how bad can they be?

Sounds great for such inexpensive sound stage, think the speakers in the pods really helped with that, even though theyre cheap, dont see it being an issue at all....

I'm sure the pods made a big difference. Speaker placement and aiming are a huge part of a good sound stage.

Anyone have any thoughts on this box?
Emailed them to figure out if its 5/8 or 3/4 mdf...
from the pic, ide guess 5/8
Im questioning the air space theyre claiming, 1.25 cf per sub.
Seems larger spec than similar boxes.
Seems large than the recommended air space ive seen on various subs?

Nice design but the tune is too high for me. I would want the tune near 30hz.

Yeah...
I was torn...
I initially bought them with zero reservation but after interacting with others on DIY forum that have these trucks, I had so many various opinions....
Some guys running SGS & MTI pods which still appears to run the tweeter & mid off axis & cost $1500+, but theyre pretty.....
then there was LMDesigns on Etsy, talented kid in the 3d printing world & an installer, making pretty pods also for $350, but off axis also.
The pods I bought were $120 on BF...
Yes, the driver side kind of is somewhat aimed toward the instrument cluster hump, but doubt theres any 1 perfect solution for everything.
Then theres guys that are getting the upgraded defroster grill assy that mounts on the dash by the windshield, has built-in grills, used by the f150's with the upgraded b&o system, mounts mids in the dash. That was a $250 grill panel.
My installer was all about that, he has "tumors" mounted on the a pillars in his own vehicles but he prefers to keep things clean & factory looking.
Then once he got in there, he decided there was to much cutting of the lower dash skeleton to make it work, just a huge open cavity, no baffle, etc, to much work to make it sound good, me shelling out more money, so he aborted.
Retuned the panel to the dealer I worked at & got a full refund.

Overall im happy with the A pillar pods from speaker pods.com.
Dont think the look over the top stupid in any way, personally.
Yes, im sure there ay have been some way more aesthetically looking speakers that may have tied it all in better, but the grills are ok on the cat's, dont look overly cheap.
Only other speaker I can think of for the budget would have been NVX x series, maybe some CT's?
Just glad its done...

Still need to dig into possibly flattening the signal even though at this point im not seeing any downside.
He got in there with his forscan but stated it wouldnt allow him to make changes, im assuming outdated program?
Guys are going into forscan & turning off the factory EQ & ANC.

Not as easily done as some other manufacturers.

Did notice at lower volume just sitting in the driveway bass kind of drops off, not very impactful when the bass knob is in the lower settings.
Meaning drops off more than I think it should,
Can easily be overcome by just increasing the bass level,

My head hurts, glad its done.

Now that I got off my ***, bought a refurb dell windows laptop $114, a vgate data link connector $34...
Using FORSCAN
I disabled the EQ curve to flatten the signal & that in itself improved the bass tremendously,
The bass isnt thin now at higher volumes & bass control level seems more stable & not all over the page...
Next week im swinging by the shop & have him do his thing.
Much happier already.

Don over at Sundsgoodstereo explained that ford has an eq curve integrated into the radio tuning the pulls out bass frequencies at mid to higher volume so their not on the hook for doing a bunch of warranty speaker replacements.

Nice....

Very cool to see that coming to fruition, looks great, and I would think you could push that low end up closer to the 35Hz, but nothing wrong with the way that graph looks, bet it thumps pretty SQ-ish-ly tight!

What did you settle on for the x-over point on the 1200's? I thought 3.8 to 4k is where they sounded best, some like them at 3.2hz, which actually might work with the CDT mid as they're not overly colorful as they approach the 3.5-4k range.

I still think those CDT 6x9's are one excellent midbass driver, bout untouchable at their price.

That's a build to be proud of!

I dont know any of the specifics, left that to the installer / tuner...
I do know he mentioned he set the 6x9's to sound more bassy lower if assuming so you feel it in the doors than he usually does so if I hear them over extent / pop, bring it back so we can pull some out.
They've been great....

Learning this forscan has been kind of cool...
It can do so much, some guys go crazy with & change all sorts of stuff...
you can increase the voltage going to the LED headlights to make them brighter.
change setting so the fog light stay on with high beam operation which I probably will do.
There also a "Bambi Mode" where you can have your high beam, low beam & fogs all on at the same time!

I did disable the auto start / stop function as thats just going to prematurely kill the starter & variable cam timing gears...

Im not going to go crazy with all the tweek options, not my thing.

I had to dive into this recently as the collision avoidance technology shit the bed, became disabled...
I installed larger tires & for whatever reason my system didnt like it after 2500 miles.
The speedo was reading one mph while the gps within the system was seeing something else.....
Theres guys with taller lifts, larger tires, etc without issue but for whatever reason my truck didnt like it.

We were able to correct the issue by correcting the speedometer error & re-learning the PCM & TCM so all the modules were on the same page inregards to speed.
My head hurts....🤪

Talk to the installer this afternoon, will swing it by on Monday & he said we'll hook it up to his equipment & take a look.
He doesnt think we will have to change much....
Really sounds WAY better than it did, im fully content of the bass output now...
