Sound deadening

im tired....
installed the thinsulate on all 4 door cards...
Did the tri-layer on both front door inner panels...
Installed the front block off plates.
I did majority cover of foil cld nvx 91mil on the outer panels a different day on all 4 doors.

Tomorrow I need to deaden the inner door panels on the rear doors & install the block off plates...

Not liking the NVX tri-layer but im sure it will do what it needs to do...
Just doesnt seem as dense as just foil / butyl cld.

Im thinking lay some foil CLD on the ABS block off plates?

How did that Amazon sound deadener work for you? Did it go on easy?

How many actually use duct seal to add some mass around the speaker grill part of the door cards?
Or is the excessive addition to this SD rabbit hole???

No idea how I missed this....
The pics I posted is mostly nvx stuff, but on my kids ranger I sed the amazon basic along with on my toyota.
From my experience of doing 3 back to back builds, I think the amazon basic does a better job than the nvx 91 mil cld foil / butyl.
Along with the amazon basic also does a better job at deadening than the nvx tri layer.
Tri layer is good at de-coupling on the inner panel to help keep the door skin from rattling which is what I did on the f150 build but I also used 3m thinsulate which did the majority of decoupling.

The amazon basic has way more rigid aluminum as the aluminum is thicker & stiffer.
The aluminum on the nvx was super pliable like aluminum foil.

Nick over at resonix made that video bashing amazon basic & trying to make people think its thinner than it use to be....

Theres 3 dimension options on the amazon basic & I you dig for the specs, the 9.8 x 15.7 34 sheets option is the thickest out of the 3 options, the other 2 are thinner.....
I dont recall specs, but I went digging & its all right there spelled out....

Nick ran with the news cuz some people told him it was thin, well, what dimension box did they get, that info wasnt noted....

So yes, after doing 3 trucks, tacoma, ranger with amazon basic & the f150 with mostly nvx & some amazon...

Im a huge fan of amazon basic deadener!

Remember that you need the door panel to behave like the front of the speaker enclosure, so a seal between the woofer and the panel grille is needed. Rattles aren't fully solved with CLD but decoupling foam or materials to put soft stuff between the hard things. Sound absorption is the key that is needed everywhere, especially every space containing a speaker.
