The main difference is ported enclosure will be louder, but the ported enclosure will be peaky around 40hz. OTOH, the sealed 12s will have smoother response curve. You guys are twisting my arm into 2 12's.....
As stated, the MTI box over on the other forum has a great reputation / following, etc...
but so does the Fox box...
wonder how 2 sealed 12's would compare to 2 ported 10's....
I can do the MTI box but more money, then more money for the 12" JL's or whatever sub over the 10"....
Also the design of the fox box, will take full size non shallow subs as it has a 6.25" mounting depth with a 7" magnet.
In general characteristically sound quality & performance is better at lower volume using a sealed over ported, or amI mistaken?
Meaning a sealed box will hit harder at lower volume over a ported box?
As a general rule of thumb ported hits harder and will sound better with rap, hip-hop, EDM, etc, but will make the bass sound overbearing and muddy with rock, metal, country, jazz, classical, blues, etc. You have to decide which works better for you tastes.
