Thoughts On These?

Anyone used or heard these? How well do they do in a door panel free aired?
Was gonna pick these and a set of tweeters up and throw em on a 80x4.

Trying to do a modification-less install and the adapters I'm seeing for 6x8s aren't pig enough to fit a decent 6.5 speaker (I tried them you can't make the cutout larger because the frame around the cutout is so thin you can get anymore meaningful cutout size from them). Or does anyone have a decent set of component 6x8s for less than $120?

Instead of using those adapters are you able to use ABS sheets bigger than those adapters and modify them. I do not think you have to make them to the exact size of a 6x8.

If you’re going to use a subwoofer in your build, I wouldn’t bother trying something like this. I would just throw a 5.25 inch component set in the 6x8 location and let it go.

The issue with that would be a gap in the midbass spectrum. OP may have a Ford which has 6x8s all around.

I don't think those would sound good high enough to run in a 2-way...they'd probably be alright as a dedicated mid bass in a 3-way though

It has nothing to do with size...that particular speaker isn't really designed to play high enough to mate up with a tweeter.in a 2 way setup. I'd seriously doubt it would sound good trying to do it.

My taurus has stock 6x8's since there's no options I like in that size, I'll be swapping out with 6.5 " even though it'll be a pia

Probably, but it won't be fancy a couple cheap cutting boards from Walmart and a saw

Yeah I've seen a few adapters...I gotta get into to my doors to see the clearance. It's just easier for me to assume I'll have to do it the "hard" way
