What is size / spec of screws that fits HU in the DIN Slot?

Hi,
When it comes to well known international brands, the Head Unit package contains the required screws meant for the Rear DIN install.
That's how my Pioneer HU came with, several years ago.

Now I plan to install a HU by a brand locally made in my country, but the thing is poor customer support, no proper company website, no manuals and cost cutting. They do not even provide screws in the package.

While I can always go to a local hardware shop, show them a sample what came with Pioneer HU and get a few spare screws, I was wondering if the size is standard across models as a spec? If so, what is it called or known as, something like M8 - 8mm or so?

This is rear DIN install, where there's a mounting cage in the dashboard, I screw the HU into it from both sides by 2 screws each.
Thanks.

It sounds like you have some experience with car audio installations. While specific screw sizes may vary by manufacturer, the standard screws for a head unit rear DIN installation are often M3 screws (3mm in diameter). You can check with your local hardware store for M3 screws, but it’s always a good idea to bring a sample with you to ensure the right fit. Good luck with your installation!

I saw on a Kia it was 8 mm screw or bolt. Then on a Jeep Wranglers those Jeeps those screw or bolts are 7 mm. You'll have to measure it by eye. The sad thing about this buying screws is you may need to buy the wrong one too and the whole package. Home Depot has lots of them. But around there. No larger than 8 mm, after that it is too big. I had to check out a parking wire on a car Chevy, In between mm sizes 10 and 11 mm, even that it still wasn't it. They also go on American standard unit. On a Nissan 2 doors, the screws or bolts looks to be 8 mm. Some where around there again. After market head units like Pioneer make it so it fits many cars. I think it's in between these numbers.

Thanks. Yes, it seems I will have to measure it literally using a scale. In my region, there are local shops (non-branded) who keep general hardware & electrical stuff locally made. The thing is unless I go to big departmental stores, I am not needed to buy a full pack of screws, These small shop-owners also sell items in very small numbers like just 5 or 6 items each only if required and like that.
Cost may be marginally high in that case but better than buying a entire packet.

I will keep this tread updated once I get a chance to remove my current Pioneer HU from the DIN socket and measure the actual size!

Can you reuse the old screws???

I can always use the screws from Pioneer HU.
The intent of this thread was to know if there's anything as a standard size and if it is, what is the tech spec like e.g. M8 - 8mm just in case!

AI says - M4 x 8mm (some Japanese and aftermarket units)
But I think diameter should be > 5mm.

Anyhow once I remove the current HU, will get some clarity surely.

Hi All,
Anyhow I finally had an opportunity to remove my current Pioneer HU. The screw that came with it measures about 11mm in diameter. 8mm in threading depth and the hole on the mounting cage is about 5.5mm wide.

Here's a photo. Just in case anyone is interested!
