Looking to go for a cheap SQL build in the back of my Jeep. Have around $350 to play with and was looking at going for 2 ok 15s vs 1 "better" 15. Will be going on a JP8 amp so getting around 1000-1200 my voltage is usually steady at 13.8-14v

Was thinking about either going for 2 NVX VSW 15s wired in parallel to 1 ohm and can be had with a box for ~$340 at SonicElctronix. Box is 1.9 cubic feet which is right around what NVX calls for

Or a SoundStream T5 Tarantula 15 also wired to 1 ohm on the same box and can be had for around the same price give or take $10. Same box

The VSWs have 11mm of linear xmax and the Tarantulas's isn't listed but I assume is somewhere around 20 mm. Going for a good amount of SQL, leaning a bit more towards SPL. I listen to metal and rap and plan on crossing over at 100hz to blend nice with the midbass.

P.S. anyone know where to get decent 1 inch metal dome tweeters for around $40? All's I can't find is Morel and JL for $90-100.

I have been using Boss Audio TW12 tweeters for a bit and gotta they are not bad. I thought they were metal domes but turns out they are polyimide. No wonder they did not hurt my ears. As for the 15s I would rather go with more cone area. More air should translate to better deep bass.

A pair of these in 3.5 to 4 cu ft sealed on a 1000 watts should make your teeth rattle a bit. On sale right now for $110 each.

With one of these

Stuff it with 2 lbs of Acousta-stuf and you're good to go. 2 bags is 2lbs - $30 plus shipping

Done.

6 ohms so don't pair with a 4 ohms crossover, only active.

Acousta-Stuf has improved every sealed speaker I have used it in,. Deeper and cleaner bass is the result, cheaper than open cell foam pads, no itchy fiberglass to deal with when going back into the speaker later AND way cheaper than the long haired will I used to get from New Zealand.

I stuff to about one pound per cubic foot in an audiophile speaker with great results.

Acousta-Stuf. It is trilobal cut fiber and has much more surface area than regular polyfill, so you stuff to a lower weight for the same damping results. It's specifically designed for speaker damping use. Poly-fil made work but is it's not the same.

At $40 delivered, thats roughly $15 - $20 more than regular polyfill from Amazon and worth it in my book.

Sql-15...it only needs 2 cuft sealed
Knewww someone was gonna recommend that lmao. I already have an SQL12 going in my truck and I want to go a different direction. Plus they're $400. I can get both of those setups for $100 cheaper

Just need to find a way to reduce bix volume. Currently sitting at 1.5 net cubic feet tryna take it down to like 1 cubic feet

Thanks man idk why I can barely find any. Even if you Google metal dome tweeters all the listings are for silk dome

Check out some Savard Hi-Q drivers. The 10"

I've heard the HI Q tens. Sold sold pair of door speakers to a guy with a pair in his old 94 Camry. Didn't hear it in the car but shit was so loud from inside my truck. How do you think they sound sealed? They're a lot more expensive and need more power than the NVXs tho
Was deferring to the smaller box aspect of the post. 1 Hi-Q 10 will never get as loud as the dual NVX 15's. The Savard are excellent speakers.

Neither of those setups will sound as good or get anywhere near as loud in a small box...

I'd be dubious of them recommending 1.9cuft sealed and it not being ungodly peaky

I'm not going for the best SQ or loudest SPL or anything plus after shipping and getting a more expensive reinforced box that I'd need for the SQL, I'd be down an extra $100-150 Dollars vs either of the other two builds.

I think the listed FS on these subwoofers are like 24hz so it shouldn't have any issues getting low on a smaller box. I don't listen to much in that range anyways and if I feel like the low end is lacking I can always upgrade to larger boxes cause prefab sealed boxes are a dime a dozen
