Best Port Tuning = (SPL).

Damn bud do you think this is the first time I've talked with this user. How about you quit assuming. Just because I have more info from other sources that you don't have, doesn't mean I'm wrong. It means your, by definition, ignorant.

Again you can't or refuse to answer a question. When did the OP ever mention SQ? Please show me just one time in this thread that the OP mentioned SQ? You won't.

He doesn't need to. They are opposite ends of the spectrum you can talk about one end of the spectrum but without reference to the other end you have no relevance.

How do you know what is a lie unless you know the truth? What is right with out wrong? You'll always bet heads, if you don't know tails is an option.

Go ahead and design this kid a burp box for daily I'm sure he'll praise you like a god.

You still can't answer a simple question. When did the OP ever ask about SQ? I'll bet that you still won't answer the simple question.

Boy you just pick what you want from the statement. Cabin gain determines peak in a burp box. Along with the fact that during lower frequency play more energy is lost to panel flex.

But in a daily system what this guy is trying to achieve I stand by my statement.

You really are a foot aren't you
Just ignore him like everyone else has. You can not have a productive dialogue with someone who is convinced he knows everything.

It's not always that simple it takes measurements, and modeling to even glimpse at the end result. Not only that your goals and mine would be different.

It sounds like you want loud I personally would suggest a ported box built on the larger side of things tuned to the mid 30s. It really depends on your cabin gain to see where your box needs to excel and where it can roll off.

Or a 6th order designed by someone who has experience with them. I don't have experience with them enough to give much input beyond my current knowledge. I don't even want to try and think about an 8th order. Bandpass boxes are big depending on the situation you may be better off dropping from 1 12 to 2 10s or even 4 8s in a slightly larger box and then you will have more voice coil to absorb the heat so more power can be applied.

I wish buck was feeling well since he was a good resource for box design, shredder was doing them too at one time.

My truck has had several systems from 1 eclipse aluminum 12, 2 JL 13tw5, 2 dd 506s, 2 sa10v2, 2 Dayton ho 10s, 2 DD 1508s and my next box is for what essentially is 1 10 in a 6th order granted it uses 2 nvx 10s but the output will be similar to only 1.

My goal post is forever moving. Hell I even had a system in another truck that was 2 kicker comp 10s on like 800w in what had to be the perfect sealed box for those subs combined with that truck. It wasn't loud but that was one of the cleanest setups I had. Wasn't happy with the output and those 10s got sold and replaced with something else. This hobby is basically a dog chasing it's tail in the pursuit of perfection

Hahaha I am still chasing!

Sounds like you guys got a cool community.

Which of your past Subs is the overall preferred?

The 28hz port is actually a good tunning for me.
While the subs output can still increase it has the door shake and side mirror, the lyrics are still clear.

28hz does not speak over the mids and tweeters.

I see people going all out into mids and tweaters especially when they have it tuned to 38hz.

28Hz is unique, and you can't buy anything prefab under 33hz.

Your argument fight actually is (educational) for me.
Since I didn't blatantly know exactly what you both we're saying originally.

So good it's for the thread and relating to a beginners perspective!

You're funny. He didn't want to have a productive dialog
Currently at 28hz Tuning but I don't think it's as loud as 33Hz Port Tuning.

So what do pros typically Port tune for SPL?

Thanks 🛸

The guys I see winning SPL competitions usually meter from 45 hz. - 60 hz. They usually sound like shitt when playing music.

Are you wanting SPL for your ride or to actually compete and have a chance at winning?

As far as my favorite sub setup? That's kinda difficult, the shock and awe I got from a pair of DD 6.5s was fun, the Dayton ho 10s after I figured out a port loading issue was probably the cleanest sounding sub stage I've ever had. The subs were plenty loud but they were so clean you almost couldn't tell where the bass was coming from.

My favorite though was probably a decade back when me and a buddy made a bet on who could get louder for cheaper. He went 4 10s sealed on 3kw in a single cab truck and I went with 1 American bass HD12 on 3kw in a ported box in a Nissan versa hatchback. I knew I had an unfair advantage of it being a hatchback so I kept my box tuning to a reasonable daily frequency and did not build a burp box. It was tuned to 36-37hz and he had a bit of cone area on me but I had a big motor sub in a ported box.

I ended up at a 148.2 and he was at 143.x on the meter. His moved a bit more air but mine just hit harder. I was into my system for sub 1500 he had nearly 3k into his.

It was just a fun build i was under a time constraint and had 500bucks on the line which at the time was a fair sum of money. The system didn't particularly sound great it's just a good memory.
