Budget amp to go with ID10?

New poster here. I’ve been looking around this site for about a week before posting. I have a 2001 Mustang GT convertible and wanted a compact setup thats budget friendly. I originally began looking at powered subs but the ID10 looks seems pretty good.

Can I ask for recommendations on budget amps and compact boxes for my small trunk?

FYI: I am not sound system savvy but can wire everything up.

In my last Mustang I ran a JL1000 and 12" 500rms Sundown in my Mustang. Sounded pretty good IMO. You can get cheaper amps of course. Sundown makes some cheap ones around 1000 watts. Check out Fox Acoustic if you want a budget prefab enclosure. Custom is always best of course built to the specs of your speaker but not usually budget friendly. Check market place on FB or Craigslist if you want to save a little used. Couple pics of Mustangs I've owned.

ID10 looks to be 600MAX. Try this amp and tune your gain correctly and I think you would be great. $40.00 oscope on Amazon that can help tune your gain. IT IS NOT A VOLUME KNOB ;)

Is Sundown a good brand? I haven’t been into car audio in about 20 years

Sundown is absolutly amazing. I reccomend against their SFB line amps. They are great power for the price but they are not forgiving when dealing with poor installation or lack of electrical. I ran two SFB3K's with no issues before I upgraded to the upper line SALT. But for the price, worth the risk to be honest. Their subs are pricey and worth every penny. I run two 12" ZV5 subs and they get down. They are 2k and people run 8k amps on a pair of them.

JBL usually has some compact and budget friendly amps that will put out what they say. I’m not a big fan of full bridge but are good bang for buck.

what is your budget for an amp?

Under $200 for the amp budget… I know it’s not a lot but I don’t want to spend too much

Ampere Audio 600.1 is $211 at SSA. Could be an option for half bridge.

Skar RP line, JP8, CT Sounds CT line and others like that are in your price range (not a recommendation from me but just giving options).

200$ might buy you JL 500/1 on the used. That would be about my top choice for a 500W amp but MSRP is more than I'd spend on one.

Otherwise the Taramps or Soundigital brands make legit power and very compact sized amps and China is building knockoffs of their boards which are being sold by a lot of different "brands" who offer varying warranty on them. All hard to beat in the bang for buck department.

600RMS sub though, that would be underpowering it. I'd go with a 1000 watt amp easy.

I just installed an sfb600 from sundown. I just wanted a nice little system in my Jeep to daily. It produces good steady wattage and is underrated on wattage. I think I gave $160 shipped for it. It is a straight line amp though, you have to dial it in well and use the appropriate in line fuse as it doesn't have any fuses.

I’ll check that one out. Thank you
