FedEx dropped me a gift today. Going to try it tomorrow in 2.8 cubes sealed on 1200 watts. Probably going to try 3.75 tuned to 30 HZ next weekend. Looks super nice.

Custom designed by Buck in a ported box tuned to 33hz. Made by Sound Authority. If you look back a couple pages on his refreshed thread he has pictures of it.

Tbh I love the Fi's they are starting to get louder and louder with the break in on them. I am only running a SIA 3.5K which I am not impressed with but going to a Cab-45 next year sometime.

Wondering how a pair of 12" would look like and sound compared to the Fi Xv3's I have now which are finally breaking in more and more every time I drive.

the 12’s are identical other than size obviously but can also be done with the classic 4 spoke frame. Only the 8” version is different as it uses a mini Ti style 6 spoke frame, different motor, 2” coil instead of a 3”, and has 18mm of xmax with an rms rating of 300-400w. In standard trim these subs are built to sound damn good with incredible low end output with excellent efficiency. 1000-1200w rms they are perfect sealed or ported. For those that spl comes first they can be built for that purpose. Mods can be done to take the power handling up to 1600 rms and a suspension change is done to make them flawless in a ported only setup. The coil is also changed in the spl version which adds 3mm of xmax and uses CCA wire.

Still to this day it amazes me that once a sub fully Breaks in it’s almost as if someone flipped a switch lol. You instantly notice the increase of overall output and low end output. I will be honest and can’t say how they compare to what you have but will say that when it comes to sound, it’s purely subjective. Everyone has their own taste when it comes to sound and the only real way to know is to try something out. Currently I have what is needed to build 2 more 15’s and I’m out of spiders. For a 12” I currently only have 4 spoke frames and I’m limited on spiders on that frame as well. I have TI frames but the versions I build on those are way overkill for most and shipping on subs that are 55 pounds or 107 pounds is just insane right now lol. Right now I’m building 8’s like a mad man as I had a bunch of guys local including myself who are going on an 8” craze 😂. Im gonna slap 4 in the car sealed and see how they do. I’ve already done this many times but they are all excited and I don’t wanna ruin it for them lol.

I am still waiting for anybody to post up some hard data of delta in TSPs, RTA measurements or Termlab scores to prove this.

spl wise, overall the difference in reality will be tiny if any and I I’m sure it’s been done already. The part that is a fact is a sub will go lower in frequency with more output in those frequencies after break in. This can be seen just by measuring a subs T/S specs before and after break in. This kind of data is pretty easy to find on google on break in and T/S parameters.

OK, now show me either on Termlab, or RTA, or even modeling softwhere how those changes will be audible (greater than 1.0dB).

If and when I do it, I’ll be sure to let you know. My next setup will be 4 8’s, maybe I can meter them when first installed at 25hz, 30 hz, 35 hz (5hz increments up to say 80hz) etc and after about a month do it again to see if there is any difference in output. If the difference is less than 1db at all frequencies tested I will be amazed and will admit it must be some type of mental tricky that happens lol. Now I have to do this 😂.
