Hey guys. I was big into car audio 10 years ago. Getting back into it. Got a lot of my old stuff still. wanting to know your thoughts pairing a new Sony XAV AX8000 with Alpine 6.5" F1 status components. I have JL Audio 6x9's 3 ways there now. running of just stock amp(like maybe 15 to 20 watts?) Going to install an old Rockford 400.4. Will I be gaining a lot of sound quality or just a little? Should I just get new components or 6x9's? More concerned about good sound than massive loud bass. I'm older I know it sounds lame!
Also my 13 370z has a Bose sub. Needing a good recommendation for an after market sub. It's a 5.25" very weird size. Thanks!

So you have aHU, a 4 channel amp, a set of 6x9's and some 6.5" comps.
Although I don't usually like the Sony HU's 3x5 volt preouts make it a keeper IMO.
If it was me, I'd put the 6.5's in the front doors, the 6x9's behind the seats or ditch them. Its a 2 seater with an open cab so you don't really need them but it's your call. Use the 400.4 to run the front end.
You can just replace that factory sub but it's never going to sound the way you want it to.
There has been a trend lately of good equipment being available for cheaper prices.
I would pick up a sub, an amp and a build or have a box built.
In that car 1 10" is all you need.
example:
This sub

This amp

Fo $400 plus the box that car will pound.
The guy that owns the shop I deal with had a 370z
He had 1 DD 3510 in it and at the time it put my 2 DD 2512's to shame
I could recommend other equipment but my goal was to get the cheapest while still keeping it good quality

I would just do front speakers, I wouldn't do rear speakers in a car like that. I'd focus your mids and highs all in front of you, get it as high powered as you want, you can get very good quality and loud sound out of a pair of nice 6.5's components, for example.

Can you fit a 6-½" subwoofer in that stock location? There are a lot of good 6-½" subs these days.

Anything worth getting is always worth it more at a steep discount. Not familiar with that unit, but the brand is great.

I'm putting 2 under my rear seats with 2 passive radiators. Only a 3kw amp. Only reason I'm selling my adire subs before even trying them. Granted...
