Completely new and need some advice for build

Maybe, I'm missing something, but why can't he run off of the factory deck?

three things.

one is power which is already mentioned

The other is stock decks have a built in EQ curve and high pass filter that protects the shitty door speakers and also tries to make the cheap speakers sound as good as possible. So you have boosted and cut frequencies all over the place from the start even if you leave the EQ to 0 on the stock head unit, there's already an EQ built in that you have no power over. Aftermarket speakers are made to work with a much flatter clean signal. What happens when you put them to a stock head unit? two things, can happen, one which is as likely as winning the lotto, it works okay with the stock head unit and sounds okay. two, it sounds like complete trash and you lose all your bass response which this forum has hundreds of threads of "how noobs complain why they installed speakers and did nothing else and their system sounds like trash." Or " I installed an LOC but the sound ***** or I'm not getting any bass out of my sub(well duh built in stock head unit high pass filter) Its literally all steming from the head unit.

3rd thing is Stock decks have super garbage quality DACs (digital to analog convertors which gets your music source and translates it into an audio signal to go to the amps/speakers) meaning right from the get go, your music is automatically trash and lost every ounce of fidelity that was once in it going through the stock head unit. Thats why with LOC setups all you are doing is amplifying the garbage signal and now you have louder garbage.

The source and head unit/DSP makes the absolute biggest difference in a car audio install because its the core signal that gets amplified and goes to your speakers. Garbage in, garbage out. AND it allows for actual sound quality tuning with modern SQ tuning features.

Yeah this would be good and under his budget especially with black friday discount codes.
I was looking at these and I saw they had some bad reviews. People were saying the tweeters were harsh. Also, I plan on installing everything myself, so components seem like a lot to do. I do not know enough to attempt to do that myself. I think I am gonna go with those infinity coaxials u reccomended and the pionner head unit. What do you think of this combo?

its fine for what you are looking for It doesnt matter if its on the harsh side, you got a 13 band EQ on the pioneer head unit, it should fix a large majority of any sound issues you come across. Just go to manual EQ and lower the 5khz to 8khz points on the EQ and play around till it sounds best. Most people doing the review have no clue on how to tune a head unit when its actually simple AF. Even a complete noob can do a good tune with 2 to 4 hours of playing around and research however most of these people dont bother touching any audio tuning settings and expect speakers to magically sound amazing out the box disregarding any kind of vehicle acoustics issues they might run in. EQ is there to solve that.

Learn to set time alignment as well. Listening position choose left driver side. Go to speaker levels and zero everything out. Then go to time alignment, bust out a tape measurement and measure the distance between each speaker to your ears in inches and enter the number in. Play some music, see if the singer and vocals are dead center on the dash if not, then shift the time alignment measurement numbers around till it sounds like its comping from straight in the middle of the dash right under your rear view mirror and you are done with the tune.

Even if they may be good speakers, they still require a lot of work to install. I was thinking of maybe going to a car audio place near me, but I am sure they will charge a couple of hundred bucks to install everything. I think i will go with the infinites and the pioneer. Maybe I'll upgrade to components in the future if I end up keeping the car in college.

bro its not a lot work at all and it shouldn't cost a couple hundred bucks. not even 100. Makes zero sense you buying low tier stuff and spending just as much if not more for the install when literally it takes you two youtube videos on

how to:
- remove door panels for (insert car year make and model)
- how to remove radio for (insert car year make and model)

If you buy from crutchfield or sonic electronix they literally give you the dash kit and wiring harness to install with your car. How to wire the wiring harness? Its literally just matching green to green, stripped green to green, purple to purple, red to red, black to black. Theres literally no skill or rocket science involved in this a monkey can do it. I'm sure if you plan on going to college, you definitely have the IQ to breeze through this install.

tools needed, a flathead, whatever socket wrench or screw driver thats needed to remove the radio, crimper and some crimp caps/butt connectors. All would be 30 bucks total at a local harbor freight. That and about 2 hours(more like one) of work and you save several days worth of pay at work...

So as a last minute devils advocate. A component set will have a crossover (box) that goes behind your door panel. The primary wire will go from your deck to crossover and then feeds two wires to tour 6.5 and two wires to your tweeter. Most component sets Also come with mounting cups. All you would have to do is cut a neary 1” hole (or the size of the mounting cup) the. You drop the tweeter in. It’s pretty damn easy for what will likes give you better imaging.

Either way, you have a good start and that headunit will give you great tuning features and signal.

some dont even need to cut, some had mounting accessories where you just screw it in anywhere and poke a hole for the speaker wire to go through.

You've received the top 1% of advice you're going to get, for free. Take your time and get to it.

Don't do what everyone else does and ignore good advice and hack **** together. Focus on doing it right and you won't be annoyed by having to deal with problems for the next 6 months.
