its fine for what you are looking for It doesnt matter if its on the harsh side, you got a 13 band EQ on the pioneer head unit, it should fix a large majority of any sound issues you come across. Just go to manual EQ and lower the 5khz to 8khz points on the EQ and play around till it sounds best. Most people doing the review have no clue on how to tune a head unit when its actually simple AF. Even a complete noob can do a good tune with 2 to 4 hours of playing around and research however most of these people dont bother touching any audio tuning settings and expect speakers to magically sound amazing out the box disregarding any kind of vehicle acoustics issues they might run in. EQ is there to solve that.
Learn to set time alignment as well. Listening position choose left driver side. Go to speaker levels and zero everything out. Then go to time alignment, bust out a tape measurement and measure the distance between each speaker to your ears in inches and enter the number in. Play some music, see if the singer and vocals are dead center on the dash if not, then shift the time alignment measurement numbers around till it sounds like its comping from straight in the middle of the dash right under your rear view mirror and you are done with the tune.
