I don't think so. The Nissan/Datsun R200 LSD is known to handle well over 400hp so the rear end is no problem. There are High Performance bolt on suspensions for the S30 Chassis already and have been for a long time - Perks of being 45 years old. There are big brake kits, there are body kits... the engineering has been done many times over for the S30 cars because they are still great platforms for performance. The cost would no where hit the C8's cost. You don't have to spend spend spend to get performance. Besides, the C8 is loaded down with electronics to help shitty drivers who have no clue how to drive fast at all not wreck their overpriced plastic computer on wheels as quickly as a real drivers car. You are right, I would not do it myself, I'd have my buddy help me put the car together and we would laugh at the fact that it cost less and would smoke the Vette in real world driving.
I am not sure I want to drive a car built in Bowling Green Kentucky anyway. A couple of young people will buy it, wreck it and be done with it while the rest of the owners who buy it will drive it 10mph under the speed limit everywhere. I drove a `72 Stingray, I was not impressed and the wheel arches were a pain to see over. I drove an `84 Base Model and was not impressed, it was all shitty inside with cheap materials and was slow as hell. I drove a 1999 Vette, peppy but still cheap and shitty materials inside and it was noisy inside with loose panels. Vette's are cheap cars with decent drivetrains, that is all and people buy them because they think if you pay a lot of money for something, chicks will take out their ******* and throw them on their dicks. Or, it will make them young again somehow.
I have owned several GM vehicles:
1972 Formula Firebird 455HD Built for 1/4 mile drag racing
1984 Chevy Camaro
1983 Chevy Silverado 4x4 Longbed
1992 Chevy Camaro 25th Anniversary Edition 5-speed
1996 Chevy Camaro 5-speed
I am not a Bowtie fan. I gave them plenty of chances.
