What's up ca. Been a while since I've been here. I'm bout to build a box for my hdc 3 12. This is the design im going with,  the only thing I'm weary about is the high port area/ft and using an aero.

The only other thing I want to do different would be use a 6.5" port, but I can't find any 6.5" material,  any ideas?

What size amp are you using? A 6 inch aeroport would be fine for a high powered 12 like what you have. You can pick up a 6 inch sewer and drain 90deg elbow from Home Depot for under $15 which would allow you to turn the port to get the overall length you need.

Skar T2000 for the time being. Need another battery and alt before I can run more, not sure if I want to go that route though.

Any benefit to keeping the port in the box? I had planned on 18" of the port hanging out of the box. I kinda like leaving the port out of the box, let's me keep the box smaller. I already debated selling the 12 and finding a 10 or an 8, but I don't think I'll get the performance I want from either.

I actually have a few 6" pvc elbows left from another project I just finished up, still need to go get the pipe and a coupler to make the port though. Guess I wont need the coupler if I use an elbow.

Heres the progress so far, im a little farther along just havent pictured it yet. Still need to install wire attachment, bracing, port, and box top. Then finish painting. Still missing the sub cutout too, well get there though. Hatf to find time to get out to the garage with a 2 month old, I do enjoy the time I get out there though. 4 months ago I woulda had the box finished in a weekend, at this rate I think I'll be done in 3-4 weeks.

I'm already disappointed with it though. Honestly I'm not sure why I chose this design. Would have made much more sense to go as wide as possible with maybe 15" heigh and 14 deep or so. But well see how it does at this point.

Ended up making 2 of these but I think I'm only gonna need one. Ended up doing a donut type brace for the port on the inside, and a window brace front to back.

I would have made it more rectangular rather than a cube like you did. Are you doing sub up port to the rear?
Both rear. Yeah I wish I would've done a long rectangle. Idk what my thought process behind this was.. lol. Ah well. I'll see how it does and probably build another one in the near future.

That will be a tight squeeze, mount the sub and port as close to the edges as possible. If you were to cut the mounting hole for the sub all the way to the left that leaves you with 9.5 inches left for the port. Measure your flare and make sure it will fit. What I would do is make a ring  sized to fit in that space and mill the inner edge to match the curve of the port. Then epoxy the 2 pieces together, sand and paint. Technically you didn't need to add the flare because the port opening is large enough on it's own all you'd need to do is round off the hard inner edge of the pvc and you're good.

Wood is cheap, just rebuild if you don't like it. You should be able to recoup some $ by selling the box locally on craigslist. If you can recover your cost of the wood I'd call it a win.

Example of what I mean but the ring:
