im gonna be pushing two 10 inch l5's on an 8 gauge wire with 50 amp fuse

8 awg as speaker wire is as thick as one can go pretty much

Are you putting a fuse between your amp and sub?

At 1 ohm and a length of 5' you'd have to be running more than 3000w to test the limits of 8 ga spkr wire. More than 6000w @ 2 ohms.
