hey, i have the pioneer 880 deck and i wanted to know if it would be better to get the ipod since the deck has it set up for ipod or could i get the zune and set it up the same way as the ipod? i prefer the zune over the ipod but i want to get the best SQ out of my subs and speakers. could i just go with the zune and wait for updates on firmware to maek it the better mp3 player or go with a ipod? and for whichever one i get what are the best ways to connect it to my deck? thanks

Well, with the iPod you get the cool little adapter and can control it from the 880PRS, but with the Zune you'd have to use the aux input and control your songs and stuff directly from it.

However, if you want good SQ, I suggest the iAudio X5L, it's by far the best MP3 player I've ever heard in it's price range, plus it plays FLAC/WAV (lossless, basically highest SQ you can get other than a direct CD right now).

You dont really need any expensive adapters to connect mp3 players straight up to your car audio. As long as you have an empty RCA set on your head unit, you can buy a nifty little RCA audio cable that hooks up to your mp3 through the normal audio jack. Granted you may not get as good of sound control with it, it works.

i like my ipod..awesome sq. i have it wired off my cde-9852 (alpine) it was already ready for it and had the little hookup in the back of the headunit. all i had to do was buy a $30 cable and was good to go. only thing i dont like is i dont know how to setup the little quick playlists and whatnot..so i have to scroll through 1200 songs one after another to find one i like. hard to do while driving..especially since i cant use my remote to do it

Even Bill Gates said the Ipod was pretty **** good.

As of right now, the Zune is priced very similar to the Ipod. I just got an 80 gig model and the thing is very nice. All the aftermarket support for it is cool.

With that said, if MS drops the price, gets more aftermarket support and maybe drops the price of music, they could take a pretty good chunk of business from Apple. Interesting thing is I think MS owns part of Apple.

As it stands, I would not pay the same price for a Ipod as for a Zune the way the reviews sit now. If the software is upgraded, it might be another story.

i thought that my iPod connected with RCAs to my Alpine sucked for SQ
Im going to hook mine up this weekend. When I installed my Eclipse last weekend, I left my RCAs in my dorm and couldnt hook them up. So I gotta take everything apart again...

If anyone is interested still at that point, Ill let you know how is sounds for me.

where'd you get the adapter

For your CD2000 right?

As I pointed out, I just went to radio shack and got a standard RCA to Audio cord. The CD2000 has 3 different RCA slots. I used the rear jack for my subs and the Non-Fader slot for my iPod. The front jack is empty.
