ZED says running @ 1 ohm is dumb

wouldnt impedance rise be less of an issue running higher impedance speakers? Going from .25 to like 2 ohms is much more drastic (8x) than like 16 ohms nominal rising to 20 ohms (less than 2x). lol. I'm sure it would take a lot of voltage to achieve high spl but is this correct?

people that want sq dont need 4 spiders to control the cone //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
So, are you going to sit there and tell me that damping factor has something to do with the mighty, mythical, Ess Que? Really?

If so, I need to call my late grandfather's audiophile buddy in Texas and tell him that the custom built tube amplifiers in his $250k home stereo system don't have the "Sound Quality" that he thinks they do. In fact, the last time I saw him he scoffed at car audio saying something to the effect that a car will NEVER sound as good as his custom listening room.

Why dont you tell him that he can go fuck himself //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

2 totally dif environments, and he would be correct no car can ever sound as good driving down the road as a HT setup can.

this is retarded a saz4500 only put out 800 rms at 4ohm so ya $1500 amp and he said it stupid to see less than 4 ohms the new style amps produce power at low impedances where the old school amps did it at higher impedances it 2009 not the 90s

nope same thing we tested a saz4500 at 4 ohms did 800 rms and rised to 16 ohms

No matter how one slices it or dices it, I am NOT convinced that Damping Factor equates to Sound Quality in a car. That is something that will need to be proven to me, firsthand, before I will believe it. I once bought into the damping factor BS myself, until I tried other gear and found out that it was indeed bullshіt with regards to car audio.

totally missed it again he is saying that electrical efficiency is dramatically reduced and distoryion and heat as a result are dramatically increased so why not make the amp do power at 4 ohms thats the entire point. call Stephen he is a very good natured guy and will gladly talk to you on the phone about it.

now try the same with any other amp designer other than maxxsonics i dont know of any other companies personally that actually design their own products anymore. that isnt to say they dont but i know of none that do anything in house anymore, other than those 2.

By not discussing damping factor, I left my comment open to pertaining to damping factor? Interesting logic. The truth is you claimed my statement was incorrect based on a factor irrelevant to anything I said. Or that Zed said. And again, unless someone can show us where 4ohms gives the ideal damping factor for all amplifiers, and anything below that gives an audible damping problem, even your outside factor is based on flawed logic.
Sorry, I forgot this is the internet and everyone is a god **** genius //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

PS: Your statement is still incorrect.
