ZED says running @ 1 ohm is dumb

wait....

at 1 ohm efficiency = 80%

at 2 ohm efficiency = 85%

at 4 ohm efficiency = 89%

is that a correct generalization? That as ohms increase the amp's efficiency increases?

Or is that completely wrong?

whats your background audioholic?

not to say that I disbelieve the things you say, infact your the new 'audio god', whom which i believe without question.

just curious.

Awwww, someone cant argue the points I made directly, so they name call and try to take it to a personal level. Boohoo.
Where did I call you a name? Are you that eager to try and make a come back?

I'm outta this thread, no matter what some think they know everything.

Noting too special. Been into the hobby for a bit more than 20 years, went to installer institute in the early 90's. But otherwise, just an enthusiasts like most of you guys.

I find it amazingly ironic the guy who said "Sorry, I forgot this is the internet and everyone is a god **** genius PS: Your statement is still incorrect." is now saying Im eager for comebacks. To be frank, the thread is better off without you.

Cheers.

BTW, I learn something new every day here. I dont think I know everything. For example, Im not sure if impedance affects amplifier efficiency. If I wasnt so drunk right now, Id probably be able to figure it out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif I do know efficiency is not linear, as it does vary depending on input/output voltage, but Im not sure how impedance affects it. Id like to know more about what RJesus said as well. Hopefully someone with an answer will chime in here.
If I think I know, I will reply. If Im not sure, Im always open to new information. You only stop improving yourself when you feel you already have all the answers. I dont have all the answers. Thank you for the positive comments.

from what I've seen, it increases as ohms rise. sundown's sae1200d as well as the saz's all follow this trend. However, its simply what sundown decided to publish, I'm not sure of the raw data or testing methods. I wish they would post a graph instead of simply saying '87% efficient'

Kronos will average about 22 amps both channels driven into 4 ohms and 44 amps with both channels driven into 2 ohms. These current draws are with typical program material.
Owing to the fact that Kronos actually puts out 340 watts per channel at 4 ohms and 570 watts per channel at 2 ohms means that if you drive the amplifier to just below clipping current consumption shall be marginally higher.
So efficiency for zed's kronos is equal at both 2 and 4 ohms?
