Z2 not good for daily music player?

I have read some threads that a Z2 is a poor music player, especially on 16v. I had switched over to a 16v on a whim a few months back, just got a deal on everything now I want a different amp, one that is reliable on 16-18V and started looking into the Z1a and the Z2. I know the Z2 will draw some current but for daily I would run it on 16V and half the power to keep consumption down for music, anyone see any problems with this? I will be running a TC 5200, custom fisher box, 2x 2400 batteries and a single batcap 8400. Thanks...Polo.

I doubt a z2 would come close to liking 16v very much, its a very fragil and expenive unit. I wouldnt attempt it

You either misread the post or don't know anything about them. A Z1 will go into protect around 16V (15.9V DC) but the Z2 is designed to run around a 16V system. A Z1a is designed to make the most out of a 12V system but can be ran at higher voltages approaching 18V without any problems and produce close to the Z2's power but are really expensive. A Z2 will run at 12V but you need to watch the voltage because at 10V will go poof! I have a dedicated 16V system, plenty of batteries but I heard somewhere that a Z2 doesn't like daily setups but is that because a daily normally does not consist of 16V? I have found other posts that have sasid that this amp was the best they have ever own, so there is so much contradicting information going on I though I would ask someone here. this guy is confusing the z1 for the z2 or.... just has no clue about what he is talking about because the z2 can go up to 18v ... and has been benched at 17.5v

Thankyou for the info but I already have a XXX-6500, great amp and a huge difference from 12V and 16V with these amps! I will never use the full potential of these amps, not yet anyways but I have always wanted a Z2, they are just sooo sexy lOl. That is a great price for that amp, good luck with selling it!
