Single Cab 1991 Toyota pickup

Sony midlevel deck

Pioneer GM-X542 4 channel amp with dual gains and xovers

Sony 3 way Active X-over with front, rear and sub outputs

Kicker R4 comps (4")

Kicker Freeair 8's

+ another amp for the 8's (probably a Pioneer "720w" amp)

The components will go in the stock dash location on the pickup, and the tweeters will be mounted in the door or on the front window pillars. THe 8's will be mounted in the doors.

The Pioneer amp will supply power to the comps, tweets and mids, it has seperate gain knobs on it so with the xover and the gain control chould be enough protection for the tweets.

THe 8's will be on mid bass duty, but they will be run on the subwoofer setting of the x-over... I was thinking of splicing the rear "midrange" on the rear and the "subwoofer" setting together with a pair of ycables so the amp that powers the 8's will send them mids and sub bass.

Will this all work or will it sound like crap?

ANY opinions will be appreciated. THis system will cost about 500 installed, I'm doing a budget system for a friend. He wants epic, full sound for like NO money, this is the best I could think of.

Ok, I'll give you my opinion...tell your friend that for $500 (is that with labor too?) he can have a good sounding system, but he can't have an "epic" system because his perception is WAY off.....unless he doubles or triples his budget OR he lowers his expectations.

Well... His idea of epic... Is a bit skewed.

I this is as close to "good sq" on his budget that I can get. Alot of the equipment I'm selling him is my personal stuff, like the Pioneer amp and the xover. I'll also be using the rest of my 2awg to wire it up. The most expensive part will be the circut breaker and the distribution block.

It will be 500-575 INSTALLED AND RUNNING, with a garuntee from me.

I mean, IN THEORY... This will sound decent, right? The 8's will be mounted in the door, freeair in pods. Later on, a 10" subwoofer may be added behind the seat.
