Your Opinions On Boston G5

My previous sub was a G5, in the small sealed box with the GTR on the other side. Both were 12's. I thought it looked great, was durable, handled the power it said it could, hit decently hard, was packed full of features, and best of all, was the cleanest sounding sub I have ever heard. I, however, tend to take things that I own and blow them out of proportion. From those who have owned/heard a G5 with or without the GTR, what is your opinion on the sub as far as sq, spl, durability, etc. goes? I'm looking to find out if I really did blow this thing out of proportion.

Keep in mind I only spent $100 on it in the box in good condition, so I'm accounting value into the package as a whole, too.

Thanks for any input!

Love the sub. Had on in teh wifes civic in 1.0 cube sealed on a alpine mrp-m450 and it sounded great. Here is a nice review for you by someone that compared them to other subs: http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/member-product-reviews/70371-12-subwoofer-shootout-part-1-dayton-diyma-re-se-boston-g5-hsu-hertz-cadence.html

I have not heard them in combo with the gtr but love the one I still have.
Wow, thanks! The Gtr just makes it a little louder, and adds a little reverberation. I had it mounted so the Gtr was facing the front of my car, which was probably the wrong idea, as it would have sounded cleaner with the g5 facing the front. But, I figured the Gtr doesn't hit as hard as the g5 so I should even out the sound by directing the Gtr towards me.

i really like the bostons. all of them sound nice. i'm doing 4 G5's ported in a suburban, starting in about 20 minutes. i tried to talk him into using 4 tunable radiators and 4 G5's in dual chambers, but he insisted on porting. he currently has them in a sealed box that i did 1 year ago. it sounds pretty dam good already. anyway, they are going in 1.8 cubes/sub tuned to 32 hz.

I'm gonna get my G510-4 with GTR soon. What would be the best box size for this. I know it's stated 0.5cft, what abt 0.6cft?

Furthermore which is better way to put the GTR, Side by Side or Back to Back?

Thanks

I would do 0.5, side by side if I were you. I don't think .1cft is gunna make much of a difference, though. And I wouldn't suggest side by side if you aren't running much power to it, because it will be a little quieter as I have noticed.

I'm gonna use Genesis Dual Mono which gives rated power of 400watts at 4ohm. Typical could be above 400watts.

would this be enuff for side by side?
